In Agony

Lily huddles in a bed of wilting flowers,
Her brown eyes staring off into the distance-
Pain flits across her stark features, ever difficult to hide,
Yet agony grips her soul within a trance.

From the cottage, a lone figure stands,
Wishing to erase her daughter's distress.
But knowing wisdom comes with heartache,
She remains afar, praying for Lily's rise from darkness.

Just a child, so young, so naive,
Racked with guilt and sorrow beyond her years.
In silence, she attempts to block out the world,
Trying in vain to bounce back and persevere.
