Separation by Nagini Riddle
Separation

I watched you go.

I watched you go as I
stayed behind,
trapped behind these
marbled doors.
You left for the sunrise,
but I stayed to watch
the sun set repeatedly.
And I can feel the phoenix flame
flickering within me,
threatening to wisp out
as my eyes watch the road,
longing for your return.

I watched you go,
hand in hand with another man
who made you laugh,
whose heritage did not include
some dark and evil pain.
You called him magical,
not knowing the curse
you set upon my heart
with those agonizing words.

I watched you go,
off to live in a world
free of my influence,
surrounded by electricity,
by telephones, television,
parking meters, cars.
A reality, you called it.
No mystical creatures,
no spells, potions, moving pictures.

I watched you go,
my one and only love,
attached as you were to a world
that was never mine.
You left, a smile on your face,
left behind those last words
that echo within these manor walls:
Never forget to dream.

But I watched you go,
and it is slowly killing me.
End Notes:
Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!! :)
