The Parting by Magical Maeve

Chapter Notes: A poem about Maeve and Severus and the partings they endured.

Down the long, echoing years of parting a memory flits and weaves
Spells of sorrow and longing, filling cavernous spaces with nothingness.
The black cloak of defence conceals a love frozen in the eaves
Of a long abandoned home, startled into warm life by a whispered caress.
Time alone can never heal the wounds of the heartsick lover
Nor can a breath of death remove the soul-wrapped kiss that binds.
Could the unyielding curtain of endless lost hours hope to cover
The iron-bright honesty of love that inhabits their minds.

And distance and tides have not succeeded
In keeping loved and lover apart.
In swift, smooth reunion their hearts are heeded
And now we see them, at last, depart.
Ahead may lie unruly waters, foaming against their forging prow
But finally love, victorious, rises, above them both, to take a bow.
