Author's Note: I wrote this poem specifically to accompany my Dark/Angsty one-shot, also titled "Fifteen Minutes", which focuses on Draco Malfoy. Though properly placed in D/A, it's also a bit of a character study. So, that should be enough background for this poem. Stylistically, it's quite different from my others, so please excuse if it seems awkward. I hope you like it nonetheless!

Fifteen Minutes
Time to Choose

Fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes of fame
Counted down to one
Fifteen minutes to close your eyes
Fifteen minutes to run

Fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes to change your mind
Fifteen minutes to leave it all behind

Fifteen minutes quickly turns to ten
Fifteen minutes stands in the way
Fifteen minutes left to stay

Fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes to remember
All the deeds already done
Fifteen minutes to remember
It’s not too late to turn and run.

Fifteen minutes, a lifetime,
Fifteen minutes to erase this identity
Fifteen minutes of lingering hope
Fifteen minutes keeps you afloat.

Fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes of opportunity,
Fifteen tries for fifteen years
Worth of doubt and lies…
“I can do it,” he says
“I want to serve the Dark Lord.”
Fifteen minutes to change your mind.

Here it comes
Time is withering
Fifteen minutes turned to one
So suddenly; without a trace
Fifteen minutes to choose
Fifteen minutes
What will you do?

Fifteen minutes
It’s not too late
Fifteen minutes left to heal
Fifteen minutes left to feel.

Fifteen minutes
Reduced to half of one
Thirty seconds to try
Thirty seconds to run

Fifteen minutes
Gone in a flash
Fifteen minutes
An eternity passed

Nothing left to lose
But fifteen years of pain
Fifteen years of disappointment
Fifteen minutes of rain.

Nothing left to lose
But fifteen years of depression
Fifteen years of turmoil
Fifteen years of oppression.

Nothing left to lose
Ten seconds to choose.

Fifteen minutes to make up your mind
Fifteen minutes, too far gone to help,
Fifteen minutes to find yourself.

Fifteen years turned into this
These last fifteen minutes
With a second to choose
One second to decide,
A lifetime of lies
What will you do?
One second left”
Nothing else left to lose
Fifteen minutes gone”

Time to choose.
