Overlooked
Was it my fault you turned out the way you did?
Everyone talked about you behind your back.
I know you heard it.
But you were just glad someone noticed you.
Should I have been friendlier with you?
You were always alone when I saw you.
Nobody cared for you.
But you always seemed to manage.
Should I have paid more attention to you?
Sometimes you cried.
I wanted to comfort you.
I guess I had other things on my mind.
Should I have held your hand?
You were the first one to leave the school;
Leaving no friends behind.
No one seemed to miss your company.
Should I have contacted you?
I think I heard of you once after that.
I’m not sure what it was.
You may have died.
Was it my fault you wasted away?
