They called,
and I answered.
The tree buckl'd, and the leaves whispered,
A soft and soothing melody, of bird calls
Like so many singing flocks in my heart,
And the branch bent and tossed in a squall,
Silence as the leaves depart.
Withered wings and quenched fire,
Bring death upon the dragon dire.
And even as his bones turn to ash,
And his scales are torn and gashed,
The birds take rest in his shade.
In the heart of the lost and frightened,
I bound, unchained and unbroken.
A creature born of melody and spirit,
My wings bound of words softspoken,
And dragonfire dying in the breeze.
