Many years
One final kiss,
Many future tears.

My clandestine spot,
Could have gone
But fate told me not.
One step
Would have divulged my cover.
That same single step
Could have taken her other.
She chose to do it;
She knew the risks.
I did too, but had no idea
That it would feel
Like this.
I had to stay,
I knew it true.
But pain now overflows
My heart anew.
For if I had left
To be by her side,
Everything would have uncovered
And I could have died.
Although dying instead
Of her would be bliss,
The prophecy’s wise words would have twisted
And the Wizarding World amiss.

Where I am now.

Which means no more to me
Than a splintered bough.
Though the world is now safe
From death’s shadowy sway,
I’d easily give my life
So she could stay.
