The castle rose above the
blanket of fog,
domineering the skyline.
The moon cast shadows over
the dilapidated structure that
had once stood so proud.
A lone wanderer walked
through the grounds that had
served as home to so many.
Past the Black Lake she ventured,
the Giant Squid no longer
splashing playfully.
The water surprisingly
calm and placid, as though no
creature dare disturb the surface.
Past the tree which had seen
so many students studying
for hours, in preparation of tests.
Stopping to survey the once beautiful
now disturbing grounds she conjured
images of the former to her brain.
Up to the school she
trudged, remembering times
spent walking to and fro.
Remembering that first walk,
so scared and curious
of what was to come.
