Out of the Blue

I kept my wish longer than most girls would try,
And I would not complain, or beg, or cry,
I wished for him secretly during the night,
And I was a friend to him during daylight.

The Prince that I yearned for, he had a troubled mind,
The nights would haunt his dreams when the days were left behind,
He was scarcely happy, his times and days,
So all I could do to help, was to with all of my heart, pray.

And I tried to get over him, but years upon years passed,
I went out with other guys, I became more relaxed,
Yet deep in my heart there was a dying flame of hope,
And day by day, with it I would have to cope.

…….

I learned a lesson in all of those days,
That life, it can go in so many ways,
For finally, there came a year when my wish would come true,
And it was destiny, she bought him to me from out of the blue.

My dear Prince, he came with his happy, grinning face,
And planted a kiss on my lips with an odd sort of grace,
Yes finally he loved me, as I loved him so,
And the flame in my heart would rekindle and grow!

Oh yes did we laugh, and we had such loving looks,
As his emerald eyes would light up as he’d watch me study my books,
Yes this time was such a great and uplifting thing,
Never should it end, my heart would happily sing.

…….

But our blissful times were numbered, for soon there came a horrid death,
That he, and I, and all would mourn for, with all of our shuddering breaths;
And finally he told me what I was sad but ready to hear,
That he would have to leave me, and end the time he held dear.

He told me such things that made my heart pound with sorrow,
That our times together bought him joy, ‘twas like another life he borrowed;
He was worried for my life, he wished me no death,
So he decided to leave me, leave all the comforts he said I’d come with.

And at last I told him that I had never gave up my wishing,
And he smiled so sadly, and I felt my heart breaking…
…And he turned his back on all, and away he marched…

…….

But I learned a lesson in all of those days,
That life, it will go in so many ways,
And yes! There’ll be another day when my new wish will come true,
And destiny, she will bring him to me from out of the blue!…
