Chapter Notes: This is my first attempt at poetry, and considering what most of my poetry is like, it's pretty good. It doesn't rhyme, and it's about as free as free verse can be. Reviews are always appreciated, and... I almost forgot! Everything belonges to J.K. Rowling (maybe you've heard of her?) and nothing belongs to me. *tear*
Nearly midnight and the Order fights still,
Striving for the fall of Voldemort.
Frantically curses and jinxes fly,
And we wonder if we even have a chance.

Nearly midnight and the fans wait still,
Longing for the release of book seven.
Speculation and theories fly-
We know tonight is our last chance.

So many already have fallen;
Blood smears the grass where they died.
Phoenix and Death Eaters both shout the curse-
We’re not so different tonight.

So many years we have already waited,
But the last few hours seem so long!
We want to now how the great story ends-
Only Harry matters tonight.

Though one side fight for dark, the other for light,
One for the death and one for the life,
Everyone knows this is the
Last Battle
This is the end, the deciding factor.

Some shippers argue for R/Hr and Harry/Ginny;
Others just sigh- oh, how canon has failed them!
Still everyone knows this is the
Last Book
This is the end- Harry Potter is over.

Voldemort fallen, Harry triumphant, Death Eaters bound and defeated.
Loved ones lost, dear friends gone, Phoenix lament in our hearts.
Light has won, this war is truly over,
Just another history lesson now.
But someday we’ll tell the tale
To sons and daughters
And solemnly say, “We were there.”

Fans clutch copies, tears are flowing, pages already being turned.
It starts to sink in- there is no more Harry,
No more midnight parties or endless speculation.
But the series is not over! It will never truly end!
The great story lives on in hearts and on bookshelves.
Though we no longer ask, “What will happen now?”
We can always ask, “What could happen now?”
And so Potterverse will never truly die.
As long as there are keyboards,
Fanfic authors have a story to tell.
As long as we have eyes,
We have tears to shed for the fallen.
As long as we can laugh,
We will treasure Fred and George.
And so when we give the books to our sons and daughters,
We will proudly exclaim,
“We were there!”

As long as we have tears to shed,
We will cry for the fallen.
As long as they can laugh,
Fred and George will joke.
As long as there is prejudice,
There’s a war soon to begin.

As long as there is a quill,
There is a story to tell,
And a young green-eyed hero to say,
“I was there.”

And a million eager fans to say,
“We were there!”
