Unmasking my ruse.

I'm made a slave
After the day,
With no chance to save
My heart where I,
Held in so deep,
Do truly lie;
But now, there I keep.
So this the beast
That in me dwells;
This is the least
Of me as well.
This is the power
Held over me
That flowers
When I take my leave.
So this is where I hide,
Away from all,
Waiting, deep inside
For morning's call.
Somewhere past my
Skin and bones
To a place I lie
That isn't known.
So this I hear
From my crevice,
Where hidden tears
Are always missed;
Above me howls
Beyond compare--
I hardly tell
That I still care.
So this is how
I perish still;
This is how
I lose my will.
This beast has quelled me;
This beast won't give.
This beast has killed me,
Though deep within I live;
Yes, deep within
I somehow thrive,
Deep within
I stay alive...
