It seems to her, the world is new,
It’s not the one she once knew,
It’s a cold and empty grey place right now.

She stands alone, in the fading light,
It’s the end of day, the dawn of night,
And it’s a world ablaze, but she knows that it is all wrong.

It’s wrong to see, her broken soul,
Wrong to hear the church bells toll,
Wrong to hear her voice lost in the darkness…

In the light her voice will die,
She’ll fall down with a hollow cry,
The end is really always the beginning.

She wishes for another day,
Where the world wouldn’t be quite so grey,
But she has never learnt how the world works, has she?

It rises up, a different place,
It laughs at her, in her face,
And once again, it falls, falls, falls…

She tells herself she doesn’t care,
Where’s the hope? It was never there
It’s changing, and it might never change again.

It’s a world, gone up in flame,
And all that echoes is her name,
It shatters her, her tears rain down, down.

She knows that now, it’s her last chance,
She pleads again for one more dance,
And he laughs his empty laugh, saying no more.

She looks at him. Her green eyes,
Dance like fire, freeze like ice,
And in that one split-second she rules the skies.

That one second, time stands still,
And it takes all her will,
To raise her head and look at him again.

His voice is soft, his eyes are blue,
And he tells her his love is true,
But it’s temporary, and nothing more.

He turns away, he breaks her gaze,
And she lowers her eyes from his face,
It’s over, she has been spurned and scorned and thrown.

He walks away, she’s left behind,
And she looks up at fate so kind,
And screams at it, oh, how she screams at it.

Never heard, never seen.
She never thought what could have been,
It’s the fragments of her life that she throws to the winds.

She sees how his words were broken,
As she left everything unspoken.
She puts her nose up in the air,
She pretends she doesn’t care.

But what hurts the most is that she does…
