THE SONNET CHALLENGE: He’s Free
Betrayed his true form is by full wax’d moon;
The monster overtakes the poor boy meek.
In vain he searches, answers he does seek,
But sorrows drown him in their vast monsoon.
A butterfly emerging from cocoon?
Not likely, for the future looks so bleak.
And his entreaties? Fruitless, hopeless, weak.
Across a shattered youth his heartache’s strewn.
But saved he was by Albus Dumbledore!
On the horizon rises now some hope:
The clever plan of tunnel, shack, and tree.
He leaves his boyhood, leaves it to find more;
New ways to see the world, new ways to cope.
He’ll live his life caged up no more. He’s free.
