Prologue

A mother loved, with tender care,
Her small star in the sky,
Her angel love, with dark, dark, hair
And chilling, cold grey eyes-
Her boy, her child of nine.

One day, he strayed too far away
And learned of others’ gentle ways,
So she called him back, and back he came
But a rebel’s heart was born that day
In her boy, her child of nine.

~*~

Look at you, boy,
I certainly do-
In disgust.

I’ve heard you’ve made friends,
With the half-blood,
The coward,
That Potter boy,
And that girl.

I curse the day you were Sorted into Gryffindor
Those long, five years ago.
I knew that the riffraff there would find you.
So do what you wish, brat.
I couldn’t care less, not anymore.

You have your father’s face, you know,
But you also have what he lacks-

Compassion,
Humour,
Loyalty-

Useless traits for a Black.

Every sin that you commit,
Every piece of slime that you touch,
Carves a line into my forehead
And wears away at years to come.

You’ve packed, you’re ready,
So why don’t you leave?
Your gaze is hard and steady;
I watch as rain drips down the eaves.

Go live with the rebel, that girl, your ‘friends’,
I couldn’t care less, not anymore.
Close the door behind you; leave no fraying ends
I’m trying to find what to say, what to do,
When you’re ready to close that door.

You turned your back on us,
You defile what we believe,
You detest your own mother!
Boy- it’s time you leave.

You turn, to stare me in the eye,
You sneer at me,
And now I see,
Your most dangerous love
My most hated tick-

Don’t you dare smirk at me, boy.
