I don’t own any characters in this story. J.K. Rowling owns them all…although I wish that I did”I’d be a lot better writer, then! Thanks to my wonderful beta, Ron x Hermione, too! She’s awesome!

Harry was lying on the floor, the hardwood rubbing against his bleeding face. The wind from a smashed window was blowing roughly over his back, as he lay on the ground, motionless. It was over; it was all over. He had killed Voldemort with the power of his mother’s love, which had sent him into a pile of spewing dust and ashes that had scattered over the dirty floor. He sat up weakly, looking all around him. His breathing was still irregular from the exhaust of the threat of death, but was finally evening out. It was done; he had killed Lord Voldemort, the wizard that everyone had feared. He had hunted the Horcruxes that were unknown to everyone else in his world and finally destroyed Voldemort. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew by him, hitting his face. He realised that his wife was in trouble upstairs”with several Death Eaters.

A year passed by Harry as he lived alone in the place where he had defeated the great Lord Voldemort; Goldric’s Hollow. He awoke, and quickly put on a clean pair of pants and a sweater. It was extremely cold outside his window, and wind and snow blew harshly against it. Harry sat down at his kitchen table; one of Sirius’ old possessions that he had inherited. He helped himself to a simple bowl of cereal and ate quietly as thoughts proceeded through his mind. He had never learned to cook; either Aunt Petunia or Mrs. Weasley had done all the cooking for him. As he spooned a bite of cereal out of the bowl, several boxes that were lying on the floor of the living room caught his eye. He put down his spoon and knelt next to them.

Memories flooded his mind as he looked at the boxes. He was afraid to open them; afraid of the misery that would never stop if he revealed what was inside of them unopened boxes. Finally, he took the risk to open the first box that lay on the floor. As he opened the it, he noticed an album that was placed on the very top; it was lavender-colored with flowers and a small purple bow in the middle. Hermione had made it during the period after Hogwarts, which was mostly schooling and training for all three of them to become Aurors. He opened the album to a picture of he, Ron, and Hermione on the day they had graduated their Auror training. Everyone had been there for the celebration afterwards; Alastor Moody, Nymphadora Tonks, the whole Weasley family, Hermione’s family, Professor McGonagall, Professor Trelawney, Cho Chang, Hagrid, and Luna Lovegood. Tears were trickling down Harry’s cheek, knowing he had not seen these familiar faces in years. He closed the book and headed for the backyard. He raced to cut some fresh roses that Hermione herself had planted to make his yard look beautiful. He really had something that he needed to do.

As he reached the edge of town, he was presented with a cemetery. He opened the gate that held the cemetery together, and walked through rows and rows of names that were familiar to him. He walked to a familiar section that he had walked through hundreds of times before. He walked to a grave and read:

Minerva Grace McGonagall
B: October 24, 1925 D: July 27, 2002
Friend and teacher to be cherished forever

Harry remembered the first time he had ever seen her. She had a pointy hat, glasses on the tip of her nose, and a crackly voice. He, Ron, and Hermione had gotten detention from the witch for going to see Hagrid after hours, and she had taken fifty points from all three of them. Harry remembered the anger that had surged through him when she had done such a horrid thing, all on Draco Malfoy’s behalf. He smiled at the thought of the anger he had endured from McGonagall that night, but now thought back on it as a time he would never forget. She was a woman he would never forget. He moved on to the next familiar tombstone:

Molly Weasley
B: October 30, 1950 D: March 2, 2003
Beloved Wife, Mother, and Friend

Harry missed her memorable red curls, colorful clothing, and kindness she had always shown for him. He missed her well-known, screeching yell that always pierced the air whenever one of her children was in a fit of mischief. She had been tortured with the Cruciatus curse by Draco Malfoy when their side battled the Death Eaters a few years ago. They had all been at the Hog’s Head, trying to hide from the Death Eaters. However, Mrs. Weasley wasn’t quick enough, and Draco caught her with the Unforgivable Curse. Ron had tried to save the poor woman, but Harry distinctly remembered pulling Ron away from his mother’s piercing screams as she was being tortured to death. They would all miss her demanding chores and tasks that needed to be done. Harry still felt a jolt in his heart when he saw her name”she had always been like a mother to him, but he needed to go on. An additional tombstone he saw was:

Remus Lupin
B: March 10, 1959 D: October 11, 2004
Beloved Teacher, Friend, and Husband

Harry remembered his first impression of Professor R. J. Lupin. Harry had first met him after he had had an encounter with a dementor on the Hogwarts Express in his third year. Lupin had offered him chocolate frequently, Harry remembered. He had only taught Harry at Hogwarts for one year, considering that people found out that he had been a werewolf for quite a number of years. He had later been a mentor to Harry, giving him advice in his fifth year at the Burrow. He had married Tonks the summer after Harry’s seventh year at Hogwarts. Gregory Goyle then killed them with the killing curse. Remus and Tonks both threw themselves simultaneously in front of Hermione to save her from another curse”it hit the couple as they held each other close. Harry would never forget the moment that dear friends of his died. He moved more into the cemetery, and found another friend he deeply missed:

Neville Longbottom
B: July 30, 1980 D: August 4, 2006
A great friend that will be dearly missed

Harry especially missed Neville more than anyone else he had seen so far that day. He and Neville had connected and grown closer friends after graduating Hogwarts together. For that reason, they each had a fifty-fifty chance of becoming the “Chosen One” when they were born. Neville had fought and given his all right until the very end. He had been murdered”with the Cruciatus Curse used by Draco. Neville had fought bravely, never once showing a sign of fear or anxiety. Harry had attempted to save Neville, but was stupefied by Draco, who murdered Neville. Harry never forgot that day; the day that one of his closest companions was murdered. Finally, he came to a tombstone that he had visited many times:

Hermione Jane Potter
B: September 19, 1979 D: December 25, 2008
Beloved Wife, Friend, and Mother

Harry then laid the bouquet of roses on her grave, as he did every Christmas. She became his wife after they had graduated from Hogwarts, and they had conceived a child soon after they were married. But on one Christmas evening, Death Eaters and Voldemort attacked Godric’s Hollow. She had run upstairs while Harry tried to fend off Voldemort. The evil Death Eaters had followed her up the stairs.

After Harry had quickly killed off Voldemort, he ran upstairs and saw Hermione being cornered by five Death Eaters: Lucius and Draco Malfoy, Avery, Gregory Goyle, and Wormtail. Harry ran into the hall and burst into the room. He had been too late. He had heard her pleading cries, but she crumpled under the Killing Curse. Harry had still never forgiven himself after that day.

As Harry walked though the front door into his living room, he picked up a picture that had been sitting on his coffee table for weeks. He placed it on the last page of the scrapbook and smoothed it out on the page. He picked up the book and stared at the picture. A single tear rolled down his cheek”it was a picture of the two of them on their wedding day.
