Chapter Notes: If I owned Harry Potter I wouldn't be writing fan fiction. It is a logical impossibility.

I am FaunaCaritas of ye wise olde Ravenclaw. This poem is for the Autumn Ode Challenge.

~At the End Comes the Beginning~

~x~

When I saw him leave the stage of life,
Taken by a curse ‘midst the battle’s strife,
I knew no pain could match that poisoned dart
As it pierced my panting, desperate heart.

So short the time we had together”
Lovers think life lasts forever.
Yet all too quickly came my pain,
Parted, sundered, all hope seemed slain.

“Remus, love, why can’t you hear?
Teddy and I, we need you, dear.
Open your eyes, answer my call.
Surely now isn’t your time to fall?”

His face was pale, his voice was dead,
I felt the icy fingers of an unkind dread.
Anger flamed in my every vein.
His killer shall not kill again!

I joined the fight;
I made my kill,
Then fell defending Fleur and Bill.
The darkness faded into purest light.

He came to me, arms open wide.
“What happened, love, I thought you died?”
“We have passed, Dora, into the Great Beyond…
Our love has bridged death itself… behold the bond!”

A shining light between us glimmered,
Like the stars of heaven in a deep lake mirrored.
My heart throbbed and my breath came fast,
I cried, but all my sorrow had forever passed.

My husband smiled into my face,
Our bodies twined in close embrace,
“I see the worry in your eyes, my love,
Teddy will be fine; a son to be proud of!”

I felt his peace; it became my own.
I must wait awhile, but I am not alone.
We may be gone, but do not grieve,
From your fond hearts we shall never leave.

~The End... or is it?~

Grateful thanks to all my friends in the world of fan fiction, especially my house mates. (Hurrah Ravenclaw!) I would also like to thank my beta, solemnlyswear_x.

Also, please note, the change in the rhyming pattern in the fifth line is intentional. Tonks is making the transition from her earthly life into the afterlife, and I wanted to deeply stress the change.

Thank you for stopping by!
