Chapter Notes: I don't own Harry Potter, as I'm sure you know. Thanks to any reviewers who gave me helpful advice. This is my first submission, so I'm sure it's not perfect... :)

Remus was a werewolf

And he didn’t have control

As he became a monster

When the full moon took its toll.

Peter was a tiny kid

Who transformed into a rat.

Although once loyal to his friends,

He betrayed them just like that.

Sirius was the handsome one;

A black dog he became.

He was blamed for things he didn’t do

But was innocent all the same.

James was loyal to his friends

And often got in trouble.

He spent time chasing Lily Evans

Who always burst his bubble.

Remus, as the werewolf

Was known to friends as Moony.

Peter was called Wormtail;

As a rat he was quite puny.

Sirius was called Padfoot;

A dog was what he was.

James called himself Prongs

And his stag was the cause.

The four were friends at Hogwarts

And when they left the school,

They stayed by all the others' sides

'Til Peter became a fool.

He sold James and his wife Lily

To the evil Voldemort,

So the Dark Lord went and killed them

Thanks to Peter's support.

Though James’ son could not be killed

James died bravely anyway

And his best friend Sirius was blamed

As they dragged him away.

Poor Remus was left all alone.

His friends were either dead

Or locked away in Azkaban

For crimes best unsaid.

Yet, Peter faked his death

And transformed so he could hide.

For twelve years he lived as a rat;

On this disguise he relied.

Sirius was locked away

To where he should not have been.

He didn’t deserve to go to prison

But Peter did him in.

And James was dead beneath the earth

As he lay next to his wife.

But Harry, his young son, lived on.

For him, Lily lost her life.

The Marauders, they were torn apart

And so it was believed

That two were dead and one turned traitor

But this was wrong, indeed.

Sirius escaped Azkaban

To get revenge on Wormtail.

He knew exactly where he was:

Hogwarts school, he was there.

Peter knew what was coming

And attempted to run and hide,

But Sirius caught up with him

And said he should have died.

And Remus, who was working

For Hogwarts at the time

Realized Sirius was innocent,

That Peter’d done the crime.

The two friends tried to kill him

But Peter got away.

Though nothing happened for awhile

Then came the darkest day.

Peter met up with Voldemort

And brought him back to power.

But the Dark Lord’s frightening new strength

Caused Peter to sit and cower.

And the only word of his return

Was that of Harry Potter’s.

Though Remus, Sirius and many others

Believed he was not a plotter.

So upon Albus Dumbledore’s word

They formed an organization.

The Order of the Phoenix

Was an anti-Voldemort station.

They helped, they fought for what was right

As two friends reunited,

But something happened on one night

That left the two divided.

Sirius, while dueling with

His cousin Bellatrix

Fell through the veil and to his death.

There was no way to fix.

And now with two Marauders down

And one who switched his side,

Remus felt alone and sad

And so, he found a bride.

He married Nymphadora Tonks

Who gave birth to his son,

And yet the war raged on and on

The battle was not won.

And through all of this, Peter

Still worked for Voldemort's side,

But refused to kill young Harry Potter

And due to this, he died.

The last Marauder Remus was,

And loyal to the Order.

He fought at the battle of Hogwarts school

But there he met his thwarter.

Dolohov, a Death Eater

Killed Remus on that night,

And Bellatrix Lestrange

Killed his wife in that same fight.

All of the Marauders dead,

All of them were gone.

Three fought bravely ‘til the end

While one of them went wrong.

But though they changed throughout the years,

Though Peter betrayed his friends,

The four were best friends during school

But they all met their ends.

So now, to the Marauders,

Who put up a great fight.

Peter for the wrong side,

The others for the right.

So here lie the Marauders,

May they lie beneath the ground.

Here lie the Marauders,

May they rest here, sleep and sound.

Here lie the Marauders,

And although they may be gone,

We won’t forget the Marauders,

Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, Prongs.
