You emerge,
Your light seeps through.
Eerie beams, hypnotizing,
Casting a spell.
The night gives cover,
A haven,
I rise, moving soundlessly,
A whisper of what once was.
The crisp air slaps my face,
Tears slide down my rosy cheeks,
Salty and bitter,
Tears of sorrow, tears of regret.
Time rewinds and,
Images flash,
Pain,
Fear,
Despair,
Longing.
Cold, relentless eyes.
Jeering,
Mocking,
Cruel.
Anguish,
My cries rise into the night,
Disappearing,
Masked,
A façade
I whisper farewell,
To return again,
To slip into the darkest corners of my mind.
Burying my heart,
The night is still again.
