A wrinkle on a page
does not prove that a wandering tear
has accidentally fallen here
for text written in neat, happy lines
is a friend in which to confide
and tells not whether its companion has cried.
Books are useful places where
painful emotions are buried,
with a shining clasp bound,
by others never to be found.
Reducing space for insecurities,
new wisdom saturates the mind.
Apathy is an elixir of a unique kind
that intellectuals do drink
so as not to reveal the heart's contents.
Though life's course may swerve,
words as concrete, constant knowledge serve
so that when a book is opened,
security is seldom denied
as feelings can be locked inside
the glossy, untelling cover.
