Revisiting the Veil

No one knows he has come except him
And the voices in murmurs hidden by nothing.
He slowly steps toward the long-sought veil,
Until he stops abruptly and ponders something....

The odd curtain looks so enticing,
He wants to walk right through,
He wonders if the whispers he hears,
Are from souls he loved and knew.

It would be so simple – just a blink of an eye,
And he would be rejoined with his lost kin.
But he soon remembers those still alive.
He feels his thoughts begin to twirl and spin.

Only part of him would be able to enter the second world,
Because his last pieces remain in his own children.
Like the Dark Lord bound by horcruxes to the earthly ground,
He is responsible for the other three parts of his soul
Until the day his lights naturally dim.

He sees their three eager faces,
And he knows he's made up his mind,
His own selfish desires will be sacrificed once more.
He awakens himself from his familiar daydream,
As a victim to man's greatest weakness – child.
