Spinning around, ”is something out there,
Lurking, hidden by the dark?”
Running now, I’m quickly fleeing
Spectres seeking in the night.
Sounds of pursuit grow stronger still --
Beating a harmony to my racing heart.
Staggering, muscles turned to fire,
My only thought to get away.
Falling, treacherous ankle,
Scrambling on hands and knees.
Fear looms large, the darkness shifting,
Forming into wolf-shaped doom.
Frozen, held tight by death’s cold gaze,
No energy left even to scream.
Ice-cold teeth, tearing my body,
Ripping, shredding, pulling flesh.
Pain like fire, excruciating,
Consuming all that I could be.
All that remains are yellow eyes gleaming
Filling my vision, before I disappear.
