Murder for Love

A dark, green forest,
Set against a white gown – her,
Your red blood moves you.

Your pleas for her love,
They fall on the deafened ears
Of your promised bride.

For a noble cause,
You set out, and your quest ends
In her anguished scream.

Steel sinking into
Skin, drawing blood; you watch it
Sink into you, too.

Murder for love, and
Ghosts for angels; forever
You haunt each other.

A/N: This is the first time I am writing haikus. They are tough. I don't think I'd ever have tried them if it wasn't for the current challenge running at Poetry Anyone at the boards. Go check the Second Annual Triathlon out.

Inspired by the following quote:

We all are men,
In our own natures frail, and capable
Of our flesh; few are angels.

~Shakespeare
