REGRET
He came face to face with death,
And he couldn’t bear it; all could tell
His fury and rage during his dying breath
Were at their pinnacle as he slowly fell.
He was reduced to a fate most terrible:
Stuck in limbo, unable to return
His condition was so unbearable:
For eternity would he burn.
If he had only shown some remorse…
But too maimed for that was his soul
It was only a matter of course
He had failed in his ultimate goal.
Unable to save his Horcruxes from destruction,
Unable to kill Harry Potter,
No hope for any salvation,
Punished for the people he had slaughtered—
Only one feeling would always remain
A feeling he would never before have let
This feeling would cause him perpetual pain—
That feeling was...regret.
