Sunrise curtails a sleepless night,
The darkness without its blessed peace,
My nerves exacting cruel delight,
Withholding slumber’s bless’d release.
Lace and satin, without a crease,
Hang waiting for one graceful glide,
My thousand Galleon masterpiece.
Today, I will become a bride.
The new day brings my sacred rite;
The obstacles that never cease
Now are banished by morning light
As cold is done by noble fleece.
Then in a moment of caprice,
I touch my homemade gown with pride.
Not just daughter, sister, or niece,
Today, I will become a bride.
So long it’s been, no end in sight,
Our paths stuck in a binding lease
To give our all for the good fight,
Both of us taken, piece by piece.
Not war, blood, nor family trees
Can wreck the path we’ve so oft tried.
Now I feel my heart rate increase;
Today, I will become a bride.
By hue, cry, and gilded decrees,
All shall watch as our worlds collide,
Bound far beyond our deaths’ release;
Today, I will become a bride.
