In soft starlight,
The moon a sliver,
He stares across
At the girl now sleeping.

A tender smile,
A whispered caress,
But by the morrow,
She will be weeping.

For seeds are scattered,
And life is sown.
Their love’s harvest
Awaits its reaping.

He aches to stay,
But he must place
His darkened soul
Beyond beseeching.

This poem was inspired by Julia (the opaleye) who set a prompt of Starry Starry Night by Don Maclean. I thought of the lines 'Eyes that know the darkness in my soul' and came up with this.
I need 100 words to post this so 'Nitwit, Blubber, Oddment, Tweak!'
Chapter Endnotes: Reviews are wondrous things - especially for poetry.
