Do not meddle with werewolves, my child,
for hairy snouts hide hairy hearts.
Do not be fooled by a werewolf’s smile:
Those teeth hunger for human flesh;
Tender child’s flesh to savor,
Taste its sweet and succulent flavor.
Do not walk with the werewolf, child;
Do not follow him, do not touch,
For he is feral, he is a beast,
And he’ll savage you gladly
In the dead of night.
And if you are lucky (pray that you are),
He’ll kill you, not bite you,
Not take your soul.

A/N: Obviously this is not my view of werewolves. Written for the 2012 PA Triathlon, prompt 2 (a quote from the Christina Rosetti poem "The Goblin Market").
