Chapter Notes: This was written for Poetry Anyone's Anniversary Challenge over on the beta boards, in which we took one of the various challenges set over the past two years in PA and paired it with one of the poetry styles we covered in that time. It's not remotely my normal thing. Hopefully you enjoy it, though. :)

Have you ever been taught to discriminate and to hate?
I have; all those Mudbloods, they warranted nothing but hate.
Purity instead of nursery rhymes, those were the times.
Changing my mind, thinking different would get me left behind.
All these notions, like potions, drugged me, and my brain overloaded.
And the pressure from parents just led to Him and it goaded.
All the pushing and shoving, it would make me relent,
And I fell into the calling that I would come to resent.
With the torturing and violence everywhere that I am,
I couldn’t see myself, but I can still be a good man.
That time is now. If only Sirius could see me now, how ironic.
Who knows who is the real Gryffindor now.

In over my head,
I thought I had the answers.
I never really had a clue, but tonight,
I’m making it a fair fight.
So far in over my head,
I thought I had the answers.
I never really had a clue, but tonight,
I’m making it a fair fight.

Ha! You’ve got some secrets of your own,
And you think that nobody knows it.
So, before I walk right to my own death, I’ll show it.
I will expose it. A few years back, in ’73,
I came across some evil magic; it was dark as could be.
I was a child, so I couldn’t fathom what it could do.
At least I didn’t know what a Horcrux was until I met you:
Souls that rip. I wonder if you ever heard when they cried.
No, I don’t; truly, I don’t think you felt a thing when they died.
I look at you, Lord, and I can’t imagine being like you.
Even if I were like you, I couldn’t condone what you do.
‘Cause immortality isn’t anyone’s right.
Though I’m not blameless, I’ll fight.
Make you mortal again, take your Horcrux and destroy it tonight.
Joining you was stupid, it will cost me my life,
But one thing I know for certain as I slit my palm with this knife:
I’ll drink your potion, but when that locket’s dead, you will see.
The blackest day in your existence was the day you met me.

In over my head,
I thought I had the answers.
I never really had a clue, but tonight,
I’m making it a fair fight.
So far in over my head,
I thought I had the answers.
I never really had a clue, but tonight,
I’m making it a fair fight.

Chapter Endnotes: So...there's this little box below. If you write in it, I will totes get to read it and will even answer you. Feel free to give me your thoughts on this, whether it be hugs or spoilt produce. I am okay with either. :)
