The Final Walk

Love is a cause.

His words that you fear.
Yet at this last hour
When one by one we appear,
Crossing the paths
Of Death and Life, you cannot shun
But hold the words to your breast
And let all fear be done.

Stay with me.

Our presence is strong,
So is our voice.
You wonder if it’s wrong,
To have our life cut short,
For the agony of death, to put it aside.

–Death is but a painless art.”

And you would never hide,
You would not have err’d,
For all the unfathomable love you have.

Remus, would you forgive me still?

–Harry, there is nothing to forgive.”

Note: The last word of each poem is taken from Robert Burns's Prayer in the Prospect of Death, as per the original challenge's stipulations. The same words were used in my other poem The Clarion Call, which won the original challenge, The Last Line Standing, as well as a QSQ for Best Poetry.
