At night we hear their screams.
See their eyes.
Watch their deaths.
Over and over again.
We can’t close our eyes.
We can’t stand the dark.
The quite deafens us.
Memories paralyse us.
We are alone,
But we are not.
Loved ones surround us,
With their own pain.
Why are we like this?
What have we done?
The war is over.
The war is won.
But inside us it never ends.
We are all haunted.
Haunted by what we did,
What we didn’t do.
Morning’s light blinds our sleepless eyes.
We climb from bed for another day.
Maybe this will be the day,
The day we finally forget.
