The Sun Sets in Paradise
The dark sky above
Was spattered with
Pretty stars,
Lit up by the angelic
Pure white moon,
And the cold air
Smelled faintly of
Entrancing pleasures.
The spiky grass
Glowing with dreams
As the little boy
Chased away fireflies,
Sandy hair flopping
In front of his eyes.
A laugh escaped as
He ran, wild and free,
Innocence dwelling
In his small heart,
Not a worry in the world.
A high-pitched whine
Filled his ears...
Doggy!
Searching among
The fields,
The tiniest hand
Held out.
A red gleam appeared
In the night-
The toddler screamed-
A flash of teeth and
An ugly snarl
Are all the boy witnessed
Before blackness
Overshadowed him...
