–Quick justice”:
A parody of true justice, warped by fear and hatred.
In time of war, they say, it is essential to protect the public in any way we must.
From this results only the summary condemnation of a man betrayed.
No traitor he, no speaker of safe-guarded secrets, but a mourner among many.
The world speeds around him, hastening to lock him away.

In Azkaban, his only refuge is rage. In its fires, his purpose is forged:
grief hammered into a keen weapon.
His only protection is the form he took to protect another,
His only shield in shedding his humanity.
He learns that desperation is not enough, but vengeance is.

Far away, a man dreams of years gone by.
In his dreams they are young and laughing and golden.
They taught him love, and courage, and strength, but now they are dust.
He is the last of them, that rowdy pack of troublemakers. Alone.
He curses the name of Sirius Black, for he no longer calls that man brother.
When he dreams of them, he blots Sirius’ face away.
He has learned that love is not enough when trust is met with betrayal.
