Walls
Vile darkness.
Even the shadows are
Expanding quickly.
Panic, fear, hopelessness
Manifesting greater with
Each gruesome passing second,
Whilst the walls-
Hard and cold and grimy
Stone walls-
Swiftly come closing in.
The words whispered,
Completely empty, only
A façade of serenity,
But given nonetheless
As a weak attempt
Of tiny comfort
For the frail, withering man
Whose cracking voice
Has left him, and
No longer can he cry out
Against the closing walls.
Though enclosed,
Cruel laughter echoes
In his bleeding ears-
A new companion
And an old enemy-
Expelling any sense
Of the sane he
Once treasured,
Now beating
Within his lost mind,
Within his heart exhausted;
A part of his being,
Wrenching apart
His battered soul
That seeps into the
Black walls closing.
No light,
No thought,
No hope,
No life.
Curled against
The shadowed corner,
Trembling, shaking,
Eyes wide, unable to
Shut against the
Terrifying image of
The malicious walls
Swiftly closing.
