This is a poem that I wrote for the poetry class on the forums.
Chapter Notes: I would like to thank the lovely Natalie and Minna for running the class and I apologise for not completing the class =/ I would also like to thank Kara and Carole for their critic on this poem, it was very useful and appreciated. This is also my first poem on here =)
You sit round the fire watching the trees,
Watching for signs of life between the leaves.
But the forest is silent and you begin to relax,
Until, with sinking heart, you hear the sudden cracks.
You realise they heard your voices; by then, it’s too late,
And yet you still tell them to run; you tell them not to wait.
You run and run for this race you must win,
As you run from those to whom your blood is a sin.
You run, you trip, you stumble, you call,
But nobody’s around to catch your fall.
With fear in your heart, tears in your eyes,
You hastily whisper a painful goodbye.
You hear them coming closer and heave a shaky sigh.
You slowly rise; yet you still wonder why?
You will not give them the satisfaction of a win,
So you turn to face them with a defiant grin.
You await the fate of your supposed crime,
As you try to buy your friends some precious time.
You think of her and you hope and pray,
That there will be peace and she will see the dawn of that day.
