Into the Forest
Do I know the way?
Or do I know the end?
Already moonlight filters out the day;
Already Death is neither foe nor friend--
But do I go to my final resting place?
At times I wonder how I can begin
To understand the truths that I will face;
Here I go so willingly to Death’s inn,
Left to live an endless, starless night,
A sacrifice that He has surely seen before.
Slowly it appears in sight--
My heart begs to close this door,
But now is not the time to act weak.
Behind me stands the sum
Of all the love and family I did seek--
But it is for me that Death has come.
