My Troubled Tyrant by Belledeg

Rated: Professors • Past Featured Story
Summary: Keedie Dante has experienced many amazing things during her time at Hogwarts, including the hushed up drama that was the Chamber of Secrets. However, with two overachieving friends and a headmaster who does not even know she exists, Keedie feels that perhaps her seventh year will not be too spectacular. However, Dumbeldore sees her potential as a writer and enrols her in a simple writing course. Here, she meets the mysterious and terrifying Tom Riddle and they instantly get under one another's skin. She is drawn to his dark determination towards some unknown goal and he is fascinated by her, in every way. However, Tom's friends do not approve of Keedie and her unconventional ways and Keedie has many people trying to keep her away from the dark young man as well. Something inside tells Keedie that she can make him better, but even he assures her that this is an impossible task. But she's not one to give up easily...

"He is a dark one, Keedie. Try not to let him consume you entirely."

This story has the characters Albus Dumbledore, Armando Dippet, Moaning Myrtle, Rubeus Hagrid, Aaron Dante, Harry Potter, Ebony Abbott, Minerva McGonagall, Melena Creevey, Ollivander, Gregor Holmwood, Horace Slughorn and, of course, Tom Riddle and Keedie Dante...enjoy!

Winner of "Best Romance Between Other Characters" and nominated for "Best Female OC" in the 2009 Quicksilver Quill Awards

Wonderful ending. Bravo! I look forward to whatever story you have up your sleeve next.

Author's Response: Aw, thanks! Well, Keedie's a painting in Hogwarts so she can crop up whenever I want her to. Stay tuned. Thanks for all your lovely reviews and for sticking with this story til the end! :)

Cliffhanger! Ahh! Please update again soon- I need to know what happens to Keedie!

Author's Response: With only two chapters left after this, it can't be good. ;-)

I was reluctant to read this story at first, because i didn't see how a romance fic involving Tom RIddle could be comprehensible. However, you have amazing talent, as shown through the development of Keedie's character. This story keeps me anxiously waiting for each new chapter, and i love that you have gone out on a limb to write something with a unique approach to the lives of the characters it involves. Wonderful work!

Author's Response: Thank you! It started out as joke and I really loathed Tom Rillde/Voldemort. But then it got serious and now I sort of like him. Please keep reading and reviewing! :-)

What Would You Do? by ron lover

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

WINNER! in the 2010 QSQ for best Canon Romance story. Thank you so much!

I take a deep breath so my voice won’t shake.

“What would you do if we died tomorrow?”

He takes a step away from me, but still keeps me in his arms. “What?”

“What would you do if you knew that we died tomorrow?”

“What kind of question is that?”

“Don’t give me that, James. You know that we are going to die soon. There is no point in pretending that we aren’t.”

James and Lily have a conversation two days before Halloween.

The Waiting Game by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The waiting room at St Mungo's is a dreary place. Ginny knows it better than many people, for she spends her days there waiting -- and hoping.

This is Equinox Chick from Hufflepuff writing for the extra credit One Floo over the Fwoopers Nest category in the Bookbasilisk Summer Challenge.

I would like to thank Apurva (DracoGurlFurever) for beta'ing this for me and making some great suggestions.

I am not JK Rowling - I doubt that shocks you.

The Other Weasley by eternalangel

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Percy Weasley has always lived a life that was framed by rules. He had loved them, to the extent of losing his family, but when the rules begin to turn on those they are supposed to protect, what will Percy do? This is the story of the boy who becomes a man, of a rule abider who becomes a rule breaker. This is the story of the other Weasley.

This is eternalangel submitting my final for the Character Exploration Class.

This is a wonderful analysis of Percy's character, and you've captured it perfectly. Nice work!

Author's Response: thank you for the review. Percy has always been a hard character for me to write. When I got him for the character study, I wasn't absolutely sure I was going to be able to write him accurately and without any bias. I'm really glad that you liked this one-shot of him.

Between the Snoring and the Seemingly Imminent Death by A H

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Between the Snoring and the Seemingly Imminent Death is a short one-shot inspired by the passage in Deathly Hallows in which Harry awakes on the first morning in Grimmauld Place, noticing that perhaps Ron and Hermione's hands had been together during the night. This story--for I shall spare you the unnecessarily long title again--is about what happened during that night, when Ron and Hermione know that the next few months of their lives are not going to be easy, for the moments that are under the most pressure are undoubtedly the ones we most feel confessions are necessary.

This is a beautiful story- brought me to tears. Andromeda is a character that often goes unconsidered when thinking about who was most affected by the war. Your imagery is perfect, and paints a wonderful picture of recovery.

Author's Response: Thank you. I'm glad you liked it.

Muggle Confusion by Mstar7

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: The Marauders have a knack for finding things, but are terrible at figuring out what they are. Luckily, Gryffindor is full of informative people...

This is a collection of related one-shots about confusion over Muggle objects. An excerpt from the first chapter, A Contraceptive Controversy:

James Potter was quite brilliant, or at least he’d like to think so. He had some of the best grades in the sixth year- they would probably be the best if he did his homework regularly. The Marauder’s Map had been his idea- even if he wasn’t brilliant, the Map certainly was. He was also an animagus. An (illegal) animagus at sixteen was something brilliant indeed. So if he was so brilliant, then why was he incapable of identifying the object before him? It’s not like it was particularly complex: all it was was a little piece of rubber, really. There’s nothing complicated about that, is there? No, not at all.

On the Wings of Scarlet and Gold by lucca4

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

A war is brewing in the Wizarding world. Hogwarts is not the safe haven it used to be. Students are beginning to consider the unthinkable, desperate to save those they love. The corridors are filled with eager spies who are too young to realise the severity of their decisions.

In the midst of it all, the Marauders are closing in on their last year of schooling. James is learning that letting go is sometimes the only way to move forward. Lily discovers that what she was looking for all along is right in front of her, while Sirius and Remus struggle to keep the group together, each in their own way. And Peter begins to realise that he can be more than a tiny piece of a large puzzle, perhaps the most dangerous epiphany of all.

Sides must be taken, a war must be fought, and prices must be paid—some higher than others. Choices are made that will undoubtedly change the course of the future. And from this darkness, the phoenix must rise.

What Lies Behind by C_A_Campbell

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Winner of the 2011 QSQ Award for Best Dark/Angsty One-shot! It is true what they say about your life flashing before your eyes just before you die. As Theodore Nott, Death Eater like his father before him, stands on the battlefield in what is surely Hogwarts and his final hours, he remembers all that lays behind him: his father, the Dark Lord, the one girl he ever loved, and the thing he has forced himself to forget.

But you remember, don't you, Theodore?

Please tell me you remember me.

So cute! I like that the bit about Hermione involved their old age, because it always seems like the two of them are focused on while they're young. I also loved Ginny's part- you portrayed her voice very well. I'm excited to see your next "seven people" piece! :]
