A Single Step by Seren

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Harry muses about what kind of person he'd be if he wasn't the Boy-Who-Lived. Hermione and Luna think he wouldn't be any different. Harry wants to change the world. Hermione and Luna show him how.

Why is it that everything Luna says, once thought about, makes sense? I love her character. You've completely dashed my hopes for my alternate universe self though, I hoped she'd know friendship, love and success. Oh well, thats what dreams are for. Anyway, loved this fic!

Crossing the Board by Seren

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: There have always been arguments over which piece of the board is the most powerful. Most will say the Queen; she can mimic any move, take any square. Others will say the King; despite his limited mobility, the entire point is to protect your king and capture your opponents. It is the center piece of the game. There are any number of arguments for five of the pieces. The last piece, or pieces, are often neglected. They are the front line, the first defence, and the first to fall. All but one. And Ron must see it to the other side.

In the words of Ron Weasley, that was 'Bloody Brilliant'! It brought a whole new meaning to the phrase Weasley is our king. I love the symbolism. And we never see enough of Ron's strategic abilities in canon so thanks for this.

Oh, one more thing, while i was reading and Ron showed his preference for a pawn as opposed to a knight I was a little confused, as he had chosen to be a knight during the life sized game they played in first year. But then i thought perhaps his self sacrifice as a knight during that game gave him pause for thought. Sorry, i just have to make everything make sense.

I loved this, it was a real pleasure to read. The characters were so very much themselves, I especially liked Ron's dialogue, both spoken and thought. Keep writing.

Broken Pieces of A Shattered Life by Luna_Lovegood831

Rated:
Summary: Whether Harry loved her or not, she would never, ever again let her love for him be his strongest weakness. He would never be hurt because of her. Harry/Ginny in a later chapter.

I really liked this fic. There was a lot of good advice at places and you really showed the turning point for Ginny and then Harry as they thought to let go of the past. The letters and parcel from the Malfoys were a great idea, and for all we know may have happened. It shows Ginny's strength of character that she eventually moved on. Who knows, that diary may still be under that floorboard forgotten. Anyway, well written, a great read.

This was really funny. I love Fred and George and DH really upset me. I hope theres more to come from this fic, I can't wait to read on.

Detention for Two by bexpotter

Rated:
Summary: Slash- One Shot-Remus/Sirius. When Remus and Sirius are forced into yet another detention together a heartfelt conversation takes place between the two of the them.

I've laughed so much throughout this fic, I think the detention fics are always best. There were loads of things that stood out, but my favourites were the interigation by Professor McGonagall, Remus saying 'Sorry my foot erm slipped' after kicking Sirius to shut him up, and Remus saying 'well there's something i've been meaning to tell you'. Also, when they were discussing why they hadn't been made to repaint the slytherin commonroom, I thought to myself that Professor McGonagall was having a private joke, quite enjoying the fact that the slytherins had to put up with Gryffindore colours. I think thats all, oh no, wait, and Regulus is a git. Yeah, now i'm done.

Born the Day You Kissed Me by CLee

Wow, I asked for more fluff but the fic was already completed and yet you still provided more fluff! Lovely, especially all the little thins. A little depressing at the end, but we can't have everything. Draco seems to always say the right thing, and Harry's not too bad at it either, oh if only there were men like that in the world.

Well, I've stayed up all night to finish this fic and it was wel worth it. What an absolutely tortuous, agonising, brilliant ending. It leaves the question hanging in the air, will Hermione ever get Draco back. I despise Lucius Malfoy, and even in DH when he doesn't join in the final battle i still didn't warm up to him. As Tyke Tyler would say he's got a big idea of himself. This chapter was so reminiscent of practically every funeral i've been to, all the people, some known, most unknown, all with different memories but you always feel as though they don't understand, maybe because grief is individual. Anyway, it was really well written. I think I've already read the sequel, but I'm going to have to give it another read now i know the full back story. Keep Writing.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for your kind review. Even though it was years ago, I do remember that I wrote this particular chapter right after my grandfather's funeral, so I guess I just let my depression out thru this fic. Glad that it spoke to you :)

I'm guessing Hermione's parents were arguing about weather to go on a dentist exchange trip to some remote country? Perhaps it'd be better if they did, Hermione could probably stay at the Weasley's and they'd be safe from death eater attacks. I love that the grounded tree house was Gryffindore colours, even before she knew of hogwarts. One guess who the robed figure is outside. Malfoy?

That last bit was so funny, I thought thjis was your house, well really. I really liked when you said Draco awoke and didn't know which way was up, I flet like that when i had flu once. I'm wondering if thats the difference between a good person and a bad person. It's not that a good person can't feel hatred or loathing or be awful at times, but when it really matters they do what they can to help regardless. I wonder if Draco was given the task of murdering the Grangers but splinched himself while apparating, or got injured when trying to get through wards on the Grangers' property and so can't remember anything. I wonder if he rmembers, decides not to do it because Hermione helped him and the Grangers disappear to their dentist exchange programme giving the impression Draco succeeded to keep him safe. How am i doing? Probably sub zero huh?

There were a lot of funny moment in this chapter, I'm sure you know what i'm referring to. Also, it was quite scarey when they were looking outside, wonder what that weird noise actually is? And did i see the start of something other than mutual loathing? I like that Hermione has two rooms connected by a bathroom, wish i had, but don't hink I'd feel safe with Malfoy two doors away.

Wow, thats cool, wonder what that sphere was for before they turned it into a portkey? Also, do portkey's usually make humming noises? Love the secret passage behind the christmas tree. Why didn't they hang around behind the door to see if they could find out what Malfoy was meant to be doing? And Oh No! Will she be fully hidden under the desk, hope so.

Never thought I'd say this, but thank God for Draco Malfoy. I'm a little confused though, why couldn't Draco, yes I'm getting used to that, why didn't Draco just ask Tish to take himself and Hermione back to her house immediately? I'm now wondering if he's been programmed to find the portkey, bring Hermione to the mannor, pretend to take her to safety through the passage and save her from those two goons in order to gain her trust for something. Perhaps he didn't want to do it so they programmed his subconscious and modified his memory. NEXT button here i come, to be proven wrong once more.

Wow,the plot does indeed thicken. Nice touch Draco's inheriting an invisibility cloak, not sure it'll work against Voldemort, he seems to know most things. The fluff was fantastically written, I felt weak in the knees and it's Draco Malfoy for crying out loud. Lucius Malfoy is vile isn't he? Well so are the other two come to that. I love Draco's hidey-hole in the closet, hope i wouldn't be destined for Slytherin house because i like secrets so much, it implies deceit.

Ok, that was ruddy scarey! Hope they get back in time to warn the Grangers and get them somewhere safe. I love how they both remembered the portkey and that it got Hermione to leave Draco's room before vile Lucius found her. One thing, would the portraits not tell Lucius there was a muggleborn in his house? The trouble with the death eaters is the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Perhaps if that death eater hadn't taken it upon himself to crucio Draco, the plan would have worked. Oh am I glad they're rotten at organisation.

OK, not that I don't like the fluff, but what were they thinking? Both of them and her parents are in danger of being murdered by death eaters and they're kissing in a grounded treehouse?! I guess Ron was right in their first year when he said she needs to sort out her priorities. Nice fluff though.

I feel sick. Thats what you get for letting your hormones run away with you. Why hadn't they gone straight in and got her parents out of there? I know, I just hate the bad guys winning a point. Maybe she should have stayed at Hogwarts. Now she's going to think Draco did follow his fathers plan, oh what a mess.

I'm glad the Order got her out of there and she's safe at with Harry and the Weasleys. You'd think being in Slytherin, Draco would be cunning enough to have a spare wand ready in case of such an event, or a secret passage out of his room at least, one his vile excuse for a father didn't know about. How is Hermione going to tell them she was seduced by Draco Malfoy? Well, at least Voldemort won't be happy, thats something at least, although he'll probably take it out on Draco. I say again, why can't Tish the house-elf apparate him out of there?

I love that Harry gave her Sirius pensieve. Everyone should have a pensieve, wonder what happened to Dumbledores, did he leave it to Snape or was it just Hogwarts property? Anyway, I feel so sorry for Draco, and i know i shouldn't because he agreed to the plan to start with, but he's changed his mind and for him, thats big. Wonder if putting thoughts in the pensieve completely removes them from your head, if so, then couldn't people take all their horrid thoughts and put them in crystal bottles for storage? It'd really upset dementors because nobody would have unhappy memories for them to feed upon, it'd be like a world of patronuses, or should that be patroni? Sorry, my thoughts run away with me sometimes. Anyway, can't wait to see if Hermione tells the others what really happened, and if Draco gets a chance to explain before they all go to hex him.
