Just a quick note on Year of the Dragon: I am looking at wrapping this story up in a few more chapters (five or so). Then I will be doing a third part that will fit in nicely between Year of the Dragon and Hogwarts: The Next Generation, making this a four part series. I hope you'll all stick with me!

The Unseemly Proposal by sparx

Summary: The reign of Voldermort comes to an end, and with it ends the prestige and power Lucius Malfoy once had in the Wizarding World. In order to regain the respect of his fellow wizards and to make them believe that he has turned over a new leaf (which he actually hasn't) and has graciously accepted muggles and Mudbloods, Lucius asks Hermione, a Mudblood, to marry his son, Draco, a pure-blood. Obviously, they both refuse, but Lucius isn't going to give up easily. After all, he wants his status back. He still has a few tricks up his sleeve and is determined to play match-maker. What happens next is a series of events that serve only to bring Hermione and Draco closer, both literally and figuratively speaking. SUCH a great chapter, and well worth the wait (although I do hope you submit the next one sooner!) :) The whole thing was brilliant! Quidditch practice and the new sleeping arrangements....all brilliant!! You're finally starting to show some feelings of Hermione and Draco noticing each other as well, and it's working out splendidly!!! I SO wish I could give you more than a ten!!

OMG!!! SO GREAT!!! This is one of the best chapters so far! I was happy to see Jinx back, and I liked having Draco try it on!!! SOMEONE'S FEELING NAUGHTY!!!!!! :) As far as how fast your doing the romance, no hurries!! I like the pace you're taking it. It makes it seem more natural and believable. Plus, it's so suspenseful!!!!

It's easier for me to write this way, you see. =D I'm glad that you like the pace right now because that will mean that I don't need to rush anything!

Wow.....this is a new idea!! Lucious trying to get Hermione and Draco together instead of trying to keep them apart. It's definately a new spin on things, but that's what has me wanting to read more! A very good beginning!!
Author's Response: Haha...Strange right? Who would have thought that Lucius Malfoy, of all people, would want Draco and Hermione to get together? And playing matchmaker is definitely not something he's accustomed to doing. But I'm glad that this idea is appealing to you!

Oh no, is Draco now going to tease Hermione about her nightie?? It would be typical of him! I liked your dorm room description, but my fave has got to be the talking portraits of Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor, very original!
Author's Response: As I think you may have already found out, yes, Draco does tease poor Hermione about her nightie. I thought adding the talking portraits of Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor would bring a little bit more comedy into the story. Hope it's working!

Okay, the best part of this chapter was definitely Draco's conjured pink sheep! Poor Hermione. I am glad Draco threw out the love potion. He and Hermione need to have time to develop a relationship without chemical help.

I'm so excited!! You have a new chapter up AND you used my idea!!!! YAY!!!! Your story is nothing short of brilliant!! Jinx has got to be the best mood ring in the world! And it sounds like Lucius knows all about the little rumor going around ;) I'm glad you're such a fast updater, cause I LOVE this story. Now, let's see if I can come up with another idea. Had you thought about having a ball? I know some people think balls in fanfics are overdone, but I love them! Draco and Hermione being bound by the Love-Knot would certainly make for an interesting ball! It would be funny to try and see them dance with other people, and still be stuck together!!! Or even a trip to Hogsmeade could be interesting for the two! And Lucius could 'conveniently' show up to check on their progress first hand. Well, have fun reading HBP (I know I will!!!!) and I look forward to more updates after the 18th.

Oh, and about the ball idea, let me tell you a little secret. The idea of a ball has already been in my head for quite a while, so I decided to use it towards the end of the story. So consider that idea used! Although it may be a little different from what's expected...
And I like the Hogsmeade idea! That's excellent. I'm already thinking of how and when I'll be using that one..Thank you so much for the review and ideas, CraftySlyhterin!
