Well hi! My name's Becca, I'm a Gryffindor, and I reside on the forums as twilightHPgirl18. I live in New York, I love the 1940s-'70s almost as much as I love Ashton Kutcher, and I'm actually working on an OF that takes place in 1966, and another in 1976 based on my dad's teenage life :)
My favorite bands are, in no particular order: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Bruce Springsteen, The Doors, and Pink Floyd.
I love the TV shows The Big Bang Theory, Gilmore Girls, Happy Days, Glee, Saturday Night Live (I love Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferrell), and Survivor.
My favorite movie at the moment is Pirate Radio (which I love oh so much), but I'm also very fond of Tommy Boy, Across the Universe, 21, The Breakfast Club, The Blues Brothers, and Grease.
My dream is to live in New York City, London, or New Haven, Connecticut. I'm just that cool ;)
Becca:D
Great poem, Katie! I really liked it, and my favourite line was:
Will they open a door, or slam it in your face?
^^It was really... i dont know. I'm speechless. Wow. That's new... Cool. 100000000000/10 {Becca}
Author's Response: Thank you for the amazing review, Becca! \r\nI\'m glad my poem was so striking it rendered you speechless. . . *is awed by her own abilities* \r\n\r\nI really liked that line, too! I have to say that my favorite part is the \'will you say it in the open, or will you whisper it behind closed doors, afraid to be heard?\' line. (Paraphrase; I didn\'t actually quote it. But hey, it\'s my writing, after all. *wink*) \r\n\r\nThank you again for the wonderful review!\r\nOkay, a little shameless self-promotion coming up:\r\nIf you want to read more by me, check out my new story: \'Same Auld Lang Syne.\' It\'s based on the song of the same name by Dan Fogelberg.\r\nShameless self-promoting over!\r\n~Katie
Haha hi, Kayla! It's Becca !(twilightHPgirl18 from the forums!) I must say, I'm glad I came to read this, because it's one of the best stories I've read in a while; I love it! Excellent job! {BeccA}
Great story. I still lovvvvve Sirius in this, but I'm starting to like Lily, too. Great job, and 1000000000/10. {Riley/Becca}
Wow. This was kind of sweet. I mean, how he was desperate to see Fred was sweet. Not the suicide part. That wasnt sweet. I really liked it, though. I dont know if he would really kill himself. Although, Jo never put him in the epilogue, and he wasnt mentioned again after Fred died, was he? So maybe... whatever. I dont know. All I know is that I loved this. You're writing is great, and I'm sure you'll become a real author some day. 10/10 {Becca}
Author's Response: Oh, thanks so much! Yes, there\'s a bit of controversy about if George ever really did take his life after Fred\'s death. I wanted to push the point that even though most of the world is in a state of euphoria, some people are drowning in their greif. I myself don\'t really think that George would kill himself, though. It\'s all up to the reader. Yes, in my one-shot he said the curse, but do you think he had the power behind it to actually pull it off? Anyway, thanks for the review and the compliment! It means a whole lot!
Oh my! This was really angsty and deep. I liked it, even though I'm generally a happy person. I liked these 2 lines, because they were so full of feeling and emotion:
1: And for just a split second before the Killing Curse stole her breath and dimmed her eyes, Hermione felt hope.
And then…
AND
2. “I can feel today,” she informed Hermione quietly.
“I’m sorry.”
^^Both of these were deep. I liked them. You really are a great writer, Emily. Keep up the good work! {Becca}
Great story, but why does her name have to be changed????? Unless Reg (how I love Reg!) is her father, and had to leave her there before he went to destroy Voldemort's locket (so brave *sniff* why must the good die young? *in my mind, Reg was good*)... I am so confused with this story... KEEP GOING! lol. {BeccA}
Author's Response: Hopefully most of your questions will be answered in the following chapters. Thanks for the nice review!
Ooooo! Sweet and fluffy! I loved it! 100000/10, and it's hard to tell that this isn't your first fic. Great job & 10000000000000/10. {Riley/Becca}
Author's Response: Oh thanks so much for reviewing, it means a lot! And by the by I *love* The Beatles too! (and no I\'m not a \'Across the Universe\' bandwagon fan, I promise;])
Hello Luna! In my review to your story with Schmergo, I promised I would go and read your stuff, so here I am! And I read your bio. Being my normal Know-It-All-Lily-Hermione self, a normal tiger is a bengal tiger. Knowledge promotion done, on with the review:
lol perfect moment to do it in! I loved this part, after waiting 6 years and 625 pages (I've already memorized the page number, which is how much I love R/Hr), and you did a perfect poem about it. It took me a while to get it, but the Harry quote helped me understand. Great job! Ron/Hermione is one of my favorite pairings, but I have to say my OTP is Sirius/Lily. I'm delusional, so what? They make such a cute couple! Great poem!I'll read more of your stories tomorrow, but I have to get off the computer now. Great job, again! {BeccA}
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Did you say my story with Schmergo?! Excuse me as I run like a maniac to see if it\'s been accepted!
I now love the word asplode. Great job. This is the shortest review I have ever left... well, it is 9:25p.m. and I AM rather tired. *ywan* too bad, I'm reeading act II. 10000000000000/10 {becca}
Author's Response: Thanks! It is indeed late... in fact, I think you live in the same time zone as me... cool... I like the word asplode, too-- have ever since my neopets-obsessed days from age 11-13!
Great job! I enjoyed this one, and plan on listening to this soundtrack as well. Wow I have a big list of things to do... I'll put it off til tomorrow. Great job, though!!! 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10. {Becca}
Author's Response: Oh DEAR, I certainly am inspiring you to listen to lots of soundtracks! I purposely chose a lot of the more popular musicals because I didn\'t want to do that to people... make them want to spend their money or what have you... but I just want to know, are there any musicals that you really like?
OK, that's it! I'm making my parents find a DVD of something of Wicked for the sole reason of this: I don't get this! I've never heard any of the songs! *sad-i've-never-seen-Wicked-so-now-I-don't-get-this-fic-bby-an-amazing-author-face* Now, I have to see a musical. This is gonna be a lot of work. (By the way, I hope it's worth it. Who am I kidding, of course it's worth it!){Becca}
P.S. You've got a lot of spoofs, so I'm going to be watching a looooooot of musicals. ;)
Author's Response: I don\'t think there is a DVD of Wicked, but you can just listen to the soundtrack! It\'s quite good... I\'ve never seen the musical myself, only listened to the soundtrack. But I feel bad for making you spend money in order to understand this.
My favourite musicals are Jesus Christ Superstar; Cats (I've heard some of the songs and heard it's really good); and Phantom of the Opera, which you've got a spoof of... and Hairspray was good, too. Good luck w/ future stories/spoofs! {Becca}
P.S. And I live in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, or whatever's on the exact coast of the Atlantic Ocean. I think that's Eastern Standard, so... yea, I'm pretty sure. So, if you live there, cool.
Author's Response: Ooh, I will be doing Hairspray soon. It\'s really interesting that you like JC Superstar, because I JUST got introduced to that last week... but Cats has been one of my primary obsessions since I was in fifth grade-- in fact, my preteen years were spent doing nothing but singing and dancing to songs from Cats. And yeppers, I AM in fact in the same time zone.
Hilarius (sp?)! I loved it! 1000/10
Author's Response: Whoah! 1000/10?! Do I really deserve that? Thanks! I think I\'ll probably start floating to the ceiling, now. (Hilarious :D)
James/Lily is one of my all-time favorite pairings (along with Sirius/Bridget. That's one of the main ones in my MWPP fic. The reason I like it so much: My grandmother has nicknamed me Bridget, and as a simple exucse to pair myself ith Sirius, I have decided to name his girlfriend Bridget. haha. I'm obsessed) so when I read your bio and saw that you wrote all J/L fics, I almost fainted. I'm still ecstatic about it.
I know I used to ask you out a lot, and say I loved you every other week (except for the time I serenaded you at breakfast—but I guess you don’t really want to remember that).
^^cracked up. probably one of the most hilarious things James could've done.
I’m just really not that good with feelings. That’s Remus’ department.
^^It shows. Feelings probably are Remus's department, what with the whole serenading in breakfast... great job! {BeccA}
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review!!! Yes, J/L is my favorite pairing because so much of their personalities is left up to the author--I have much more freedom to write what I want to write. I'm glad you laughed at that part...poor James with his unrequited "love". Thanks again for reviewing!
Yea. This was really good, and I'll try to remember 'Emma'. I think I saw a Holly in another story on here... ohh yea! Isnt she Haley and Jordans lik sis? I think so... Is that this Holly? {BeccA} P.S. Good luck w/ The Past! It sounds awesome!
Author's Response: Zank you! Yes, Holly is Haley \'n\' Jordan\'s little sister. You have a very good memory! Yeah, she turns up, and she\'s ten years old in this story, so she and her brother Jonathan will be fun. I hope the Past is up soon!
Ok, yet another review. I am happy to inform you that I, Becca-Who-Is-Way-To-Much-Like-Darcy-To-Be-Proud-Of-It-And-Is-Also-Like-Lizzy-And-Lydia-In-Some-Ways, have finally read Pride and Prejudice!!! (Of course, I couldn't get through the actual book, so I had my mom find a less-big-scary-words version. She did. I enjoyed it) Now, my character ideas:
Tyrone: Fitzwilliam *smirks* Darcy
Wolfgang: Wickham (Grr. So angry at him, now that I know what Wickham does)
Emma: Dear Lizzy Bennett
Haley: Lydia
Ivy: Charlotte, maybe? Except a lot happier with her marriage?
Ted: That weird Collins dude (yet a ton nicer)
Jordan: The mysterious Colonel Fitzwilliam *smirks yet again*
Tell me if I'm right! {BeccA}
P.S. I like this version a LOT better than Jane Austen's. And I read some other reviews for this, I too hate Amy March from Little Women. (again, read less-creepy-big-words version). I like Jo the best, and practically am Jo.
Author's Response: Hey, Becca, thanks! And thanks for giving me the (totally untrue) compliment about this being better than Jane Austen. As for the less-scary-big-words version, have you seen any Pride and Prejudice movies? Because both the Keira Knightley one and the Colin Firth one are SMASSSH-AAANG!. Funny you should make fun of the name Fitzwilliam... I do that too, later in the story.
\r\nYou were right about Tyrone, Wolfgang, Emma, and Haley, but Ivy is Jane and Ted is Bingley. I know in the book Jane and Bingley aren\'t already married, but... well, you\'ll see. Jordan is pretty much not in this story much, but if anything, he\'s probably the character of Elizabeth\'s uncle mixed with Mary Bennet.
Wolfgang did not comment on the awkward arm punch, which I appreciated. “Looking forward to it,” he said. As I walked off, he cupped his hands and called out to me, “DON’T WEAR ANYTHING ORANGE—I’M SICK TO DEATH OF IT.”
“FUNNY,” I yelled back, “I WAS ABOUT TO SAY TO YOU ‘IF YOU WEAR ANYTHING ORANGE, I’M RUBBING TIRAMISU IN YOUR FACE.”
“I MAY HAVE TO WEAR ORANGE, THEN, BECAUSE THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS REALLY FUN!” shouted Wolfgang.
It was about then that I realized that we were being so loud that Vaultz would most definitely hear us. So I tried a clever tactic and screamed at the top of my lungs, “BY THE WAY, I AM NOT AN AUROR, ESPECIALLY NOT ONE NAMED EMMA WEASLEY!”
“HOW INTERESTING, BECAUSE I’M NOT A QUIDDITCH PLAYER! AND MY NAME ISN’T WOLFGANG AT ALL!” hollered Wolfgang.
^^I cracked up... literally. i was incapable of speech due 2 laughter. My friend was IMing me & i didnt notice cause i was laughing so hard I couldnt c the flashy ORANGE light on the bottem of the computer screen.
“When there’s some big fat guy face-down in pizza pie, it’s Sn-or-é!”
^^This is new lyrics to some song that my grandma sings every now and then, but I cant think of the title.
I loved Emma's summary of Pride and Prejudice. I'm going out on a limb here, but they're actually pretty similair? The summary and the real book? Wow, then I guess I wont have to read it anymore! *grumbles about being a lazy idiot who's incredibly desperate to not read a 500 page long romance novel so she;ll go by what Emma Weasley says* Although, I'm still like Emma and Ivy's like my friend who's trying to get me to read every romance novel in the library... wow... ironic.
Darcy is actually that emo. And then he proceeds to stomp off to his emo corner for the rest of the night.
^^Really? I never pictured Darcy like that... and is Darcy his first name, cause that is a girls name.
Uh! You went to Denmark? The only time I've been out of the U.S. was to go to Canada! 1000000/10 [Becca]
P.S. I've heard of Les Misrables, but I couldnt catch the reference... what the Niflheim was it?
Author's Response: Hehe, I\'m vewwy glad that you liked the silliness of Emma and Wolfie. ^^ I had a lot of fun writing it. As for the Snore song, that\'s based on the famous song that goes, \"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, it\'s amore!\" If you buy the Enchanted soundtrack, you can hear James Marsden singing that song! My summary of Pride and Prejudice is exactly perfect... it\'s all accurate, just told in a stupid way. But the book\'s not that long-- it only took me one day-- and you\'d probably enjoy watching a movie of it. The one with Keira Knightley that came out in 2004 is pretty good, and the old BBC/A&E miniseries from the nineties is even better (but that one is super, super long, for the true fanatics only.)
\r\nDarcy\'s first name is Fitzwilliam, which is super lame! My best friend\'s family took my on vacation with them a few years ago, and we went on a cruise and visited Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Estonia, Russia, and Finland! No one else in my entire family has left the country, so it was quite the privilege. Sadly, though, I\'ve never been to Europe! The Les Mis reference was when Haley shouted \"Lamarque is ill and fading fast!\" Marius sings that line in the song \"Look Down.\"
lol this has a hilarious chapter title! I loved it.
Ohhh boy another Pride and Prejudice summary.
haha possum in the cereal box. What IS up with that?
You know that little voice in the back of your head that makes rude comments that you don’t dare say out loud? I think that voice is me.
^^When I hear rude comments in my mind, I normally do say them... I should work on that...
Clio's joke was... weird... I didn't get it at first, but then I did! Cool!
SHE STABBED HIM TO DEATH IN HIS BATHTUB. How awesome is that?
^^Exactly what I would have said!
I always think that sounds dirty. “Oh, Mr. Bing-Bing, I’d love to visit your Netherfield, if you get my drift, wink-wink, nudge-nudge.”
^^Wow. Emma has a sick, twisted imagination that is sooo much like mine. haha, dirty! (See?)
Aww, poor Emma. She should know that Darcy is one of the main characters by now (Binglemeiseter. For some reason, he annoys me (in Jane Austen, not this... he's Ted, right?)
Ted was annoying. I never thought he would do that! It's kinda funny how Remus did it, and then Ted did... OMG YOU PLANNED THAT!!!! Wow, I am slow today... well, I had to get up at 7:00 to go to my summer camp, where we do a class in art, photography, health, and, my favorite, theatre! we're doing The Princess and The Pea, and I only get a really small part (one line), but I get to use my really good Southern accent with it! But the production is tomorrow, and I'm really excited becuase most of my friends are in it with me (only one gets a big part), but it's really fun! I still have no idea how to work on my vibrato. My friend (who has the second smallets part in our play) decided to tell me that I can't sing very good, while my other friends (the larger parts of the play) told me that I can... Ohh funny story about random singing like Haley. We were in the middle of a volleyball game during school, and I spiked the ball over the net and began singing 'Music of the Night' from Phantom of the Opera. This one kid goes 'Becka, shut up' and I just start singing louder and more off-key and our gym teacher almost fell off his chair. It was funny.
Back on topic: This was a pretty good chapter, and I loved Emma's summary of the book. (I keep wanting to call her Holly or Allie, who are my sarcastic, singing characters (Holly sings alot in my next-gen series, and Allie is sarcastic in my MWPP story). I'll try to remember 'Emma'. This was a really great story! Keep updating (and Potter's Pentagon: The Past. That one sounds good!) Great job, Schmergo!!!! {BeccA}
Author's Response: Thank you so much, dudette! I have no idea why I put that possum thing in there... it just happppenned. Right. Anyway, Emma IS that rude little voice in the back of my head. When writing the Potter\'s Pentagon trilogy, I never saw any resemblance between Emma and myself, but now that I\'m writing this, I feel like it comes so easily and we have a rather frightening amount in common... but only when it comes to the way I think, NOT the way I act!
\r\nI like Mr. Bingley, especially in the 1995 A&E adaptation of \"Pride and Prejudice\"-- if you\'ve ever seen that, you\'ll know why I made Ted Bingley. He\'s so darn infectiously charming! I feel sorry for Ted, though. And myesss, I sure did plan all of that-- I have a whole plan/outline of the entire story on my computer. It\'s nine pages long, baby! Yeah, I outline everything before I write it. It\'s the only area in which I\'m at all organized.
\r\nI\'ve always thought Netherfield sounded so dirty! When I played Lydia in the play, I\'d start giggling everytime someone said the name of the house-- which I guess is in-character. It\'s really cool that so many people on this site do drama-- theatre\'s really my passion, I can never decide whether I like it or writing more, but I certainly spend more time doing theatre-type things. I\'m in \"High School Musical\" this summer as the psychotic teacher Mrs. Darbus, and I love every minute of it. It\'s my 23rd show!
\r\nDon\'t worry about not being able to \'work\' vibrato-- you shouldn\'t have to. It just comes naturally, and it comes eventually. If you force vibrato, not only is that not healthy for your voice, it sounds fake and not very good. Vibrato didn\'t really kick in in my voice until I was fourteen (though, yes, I did try to force it before then). It\'s still a little bit irregular sometimes, but it\'s getting a lot stronger and more natural in my voice now. My guy friend is nineteen, and his voice had never managed to develop vibrato, and then one day, he was singing, and it just came out perfectly and naturally. It\'s all about breath support, which is why you tend to get more vibrato on really high notes. BUT YOU DIDN\'T NEED TO HEAR THAT.
\r\nUh-oh, it\'s gonna be confusing later on in this story if you keep thinking of the name \'Holly,\' because a character named Holly turns up in Chapter Six of this story! Uh-oh. Oh, as for The Past-- I just submitted that yesterday. Cross your fingers and wish me luck!
*GASP* I never got emailed when this was updated! It as on my favorites, I know it was on my favorites, I personally added it to my favorites, and now all of a sudden I'm not updated to a new chapter to my favorites? What is the world coming to???? Anyway, I have re-added (like it was taken off in the first place. pshaw) it to my favorites. This is probably the most the word 'favorites' has been used in one short period of time... I am now going to stop saying the word favorites... okay, starting now.
“I heard that werewolf jaws can crush a cauldron,” Jonathan added offhandedly.
“COOL!” shouted Holly. “Let’s make Ted show us next time he comes over!”
^Haha... Where does Jonathan get this random knowledge? Ooooh! I just noticed that Haley and Holly are the two girls, and they have the same initials, just like Jordan and Jonathan! haha really good chapter though! {BeccA}
Author's Response: YAAAY! Re-favourited! And I'm so glad that this chapter got accepted. Yes, Haley, Jordan, Holly, and Jonathan were all named so that their names match with Harry and Ginny. It's cheesy, but I felt like it! Jonathan is perpetually off in his own little world of facts and fantasies and periodically makes contact with reality. I guess this was one of the rare moments.
What the Niflheim?!?!?! How come this is up before the next chapter of The Truth? (Not complaining, I love this one, too.)
So, is Emma supposed to be... I think her name is Elizabeth? (The main character of Pride and Prejudice). And The 'Ronester is that Mr Darcy guy? Sorry I don't know any characters from the original. I've never read the book and I've only seen parts of the Keira Knightley version of the movie. My friend told me it's pretty good, though. (New life goal: read Pride and Prejudice)
What. The. Niflheim.
^^I'm going to use this whenever I feel like saying the English version. When someone I particularly dont care for calls my phone: What the Niflheim! When my teacher's boring: What the Niflheim.
A zizzelion (i love that word!)/ 10.
{Becca}
P.S. I convinced my friend (on here as lily6161) to read the Potter's Pentagon books, as well as this. So, you'll have one new reader. :)
Author's Response: I have no idea how this was posted before The Truth. I\'ve had four chapters of things accepted since submitting chapter ten of The Truth! Yep, Emma plays the role of Elizabeth, though Tyrone\'s personality is actually not that much like Darcy\'s. (Jordan is a lot more Darcy-ish, though the guy who played Darcy in our school play of Pride and Prejudice reminded me of Tyrone.)
\r\nThe book is good-- however, you would probably love the 1995 TV miniseries of Pride and Prejudice, by the BBC and A&E. As well as I think Keira Knightly played the role, the 1995 Elizabeth was BRILLIANT and Mr. Bingley was adorable. (However, I prefer Darcy in the newer movie... though neither film Darcy is anywhere NEAR my mental image, or attractive enough, in my opinion.) I played Lydia Bennet in my school play (the character that Haley is in this story), and I\'ve been slightly obsessed with Pride and Prejudice ever since!
\r\nANd thanks so much for introducing your friend to my stories! ^_^ I love getting new readers.
