Aurors and Schoolgirls by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:
The Wizarding War is over.

Auror training has begun and Harry and Ron find that their lives are centred round London and the Ministry of Magic.

For Ginny and Hermione there is the inevitable return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Their lives are centred round schooling in Scotland.

Do these divided duos have different destinations and divergent destinies? When, where and how can these parted pairings meet? Opportunities are limited to holidays, Hogsmeade visits and school Quidditch matches.

Nominated for: Best Post-Hogwarts (Chaptered) story - Quicksilver Quills 2012

What a perfect ending to the opening weekend (US) of Deathly Hallows part 2.

Can't wait for more!!!! Both this and your other stories of course. Trying to catch up with my fan fic reading since my vacation at the first of the month.

Like the others, the costume descriptions are wonderful!!!
EdyeB

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
It was the opening weekend here, to, though I’ve yet to see DH2 (possibly next weekend). Next: Harry dances and Dennis is worried.

YEAH!!! Had a feeling we would have an update to one of your fabulous fics this week (though i was hoping for one to your "rude" one hahaha).

I would love to see a drawing of the necklace, it sounds so very James.

Of course, now you have a wonderful excuse to write a POV one shot of Lily Luna's 17th birthday when she receives the necklace at her coming of age.

But, first we must see this on Ginny during her and Harry's Wedding Breakfast, cause this would be the something old or borrowed ( though Ginny could borrow something from Molly or Hermonie.) I could also see Ginny wearing this when they officially announce their engagement: or their double date the night that both couple celebrate their engagements.

Looking forward to the Medal Presentation and the Ball!!!

EdyeB

Author's Response: Thanks
Spontaneity may be the next update. I need to check that the final two chapters aren’t too rude.

Lily’s seventeenth? So far (apart from one chapter of “Tales” (The Confession of Augusta Longbottom)) I haven’t written anything set in the future. I’m working on a Lavender/Mark story set in 2010, but I have nothing planned beyond 2011.

I will try to remember to work "tripscohrdian" (sp) in the conversation at the Lexington KY Arthur Murray this week. Wattz is sooo much fun!!

Did enjoy this one, especially as it brought Fennella back into the story (and I was starting to think that was a 1 off chapter, glad it isn't). The friendship that we know from your other tales with the main group and Fenella will be nice and interesting to watch develop.

Christmas Fluff sounds nice, would it be peppermint flavored??

NIce to see how the main 4 have matured since the Yule Ball.

Edyeb

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
There has been a lot of fluff in the last few chapters, and there will be more. But there’s a plot in here too, honest! Harry will be making a few surprising discoveries and there will be more appearances from Fenella, Dennis, and assorted Slytherins. Plus Luna simply won’t go away.

Spontaneity by Northumbrian

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Hermione (and Ginny) chose to return to Hogwarts to study. Harry and Ron joined the Auror Office. It's the Easter holidays, two weeks home from school for the girls, but their boyfriends are both working. The all important NEWT exams are approaching, Hermione's revision schedule is already carefully planned. Will she find time for Ron? What about Harry and Ginny?

YEAH!!!

Had to digest this installment a bit before my review.

Wonderful as always: and such insight to "the first time": of course Hermionie would have read books to figure out the basics. haha

I do like how this melds with Ron's thoughts during "The Question". I think most of us do keep second guessing ourselves, even with "the right one".

I can't wait for a couple of things that could be coming up during Harry's POV:

Firstly, with the dates you have attached to your table of contents on your author page, the tie to Arthur's story and his line about "Arthur, don't think about your kids having sex", was a nice touch. Little did we think at the time that a variant of that thought would be going through the foursomes minds as well. Can't wait to see if Ginny or Hermionie brings up the summer trip to the boys first, and then who decides that this is the day to ask the parents.

Second, ever since you decided to do this as a four part POV, I have been waiting for either Ron or Harry to slyly/embarassedly ask the other "did you diddle my sister?'. (or would be sister in the case of Harry/Herimoine. A not often used Americanism there.

You can almost see the boys glancing away from each other at their first meeting this morning, each knowing what the other has been up to.

Looking forward to lots and lots more!!!

And just exactly what kind of Player Rites will the Harpies be putting Ginny through...hmmm.
EdyeB

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review

Ron, I suspect, will always second guess himself. Although he’s capable of hard work and great determination, he’s still nervous of failing when he tries to achieve something he desperately wants (like getting on the Quidditch team or, in this, getting Hermione).

When I wrote “Arthur” I knew most of the stuff that’s in this story (not every little detail, but the basics). I wrote the Hermione chapter first (months ago), but I’m still nervous about writing “naughty bits” (which is why I don’t).

The encounter will (as I’m sure you’ve guessed) take place in the kitchen in the next chapter, in which Harry thinks about hair, love, obsession, teeth-cleaning, friends, !Molly!, and dressing gowns.

Thought we would have to wait for this in A&S, but that wait is over!!!

So glad you brought in the amoritentia and that was the real moment in HBP when Harry finally made the connection.

The guys viewpoints should be quite interesting, possible even the morning after??hahahaha

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

A&S is 6th-7th years and this is (possibly) too strong for that rating. A&S is planned to finish before Easter, with an epilogue at the end of the school year.

The switch in Harry’s head was certain to flip, given the circumstances.

The guys viewpoints will, indeed, be the morning after. Next: Ron.

As nice ending and segue into The Mind of Arthur Weasley...esp. as Ginny uses some of his final thoughts as some of her last lines.

On rereading "Harry", I still am not for sure if Ginny would come out and say that Harry would be paying for her until she got a job. I had always imagined this as more of an arguement between the two with Harry first offering "as a gift" with Ginny's temper flaring just after until the mentioned agreement is reached.

Nice that we have gotten several one shots/beginings and endings of some of your work lately, but how about some A&S so we can attend the medal presentation and the ball.

Was the necklace/Cho arguement the one referred to as the "Christmas fight",or was there something else??

EdyeB

Author's Response:
EdyeB

Thanks for the review.

I had the basic idea for this story in my head when I wrote “Arthur”, but I did not consider writing it at the time.

The Harry/Ginny agreement was made off-camera, and not even in this story. That is a mistake on my part; I should have explained it better.

The next chapter of A&S is almost ready to go, as is the next chapter of Strangers at Drakeshaugh. I blame Karaley Dargen for the delay. :-D The Mysterious May Challenge has interrupted my other writing as I try to get 3½ mystery stories finished before the deadline. The ½ is at chapter 3, one is complete and submitted, the other two I’m working on (very) frantically.

As for your final question, I will simply quote Professor River Song: “Spoilers”.

Lovely ending--though I must admit for the first few sentences, I thought for a brief moment you were going an Umbridge route so please forgive me.

Who better than our beloved (??) librarian to keep the record of the Battle straight.

Wonder if she will also share her records with Binns for his NEWT level Recent Events in British HIstory lecture.??
EdyeB

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review. You’re forgiven. :-)

I suspect that to Professor Binns, “recent events” means the defeat of Gellert Grindelwald.

Here is one for you....

In regards to my best (male) friend/would be boyfriend the techy geek , who is so tuned into his Mac, our friends (and even my 10 years younger brother) want to tell him just exactly where he needs to plug in the hard drive.

Just some everyday tech talk, nothing implied.

ps--I love Brittish humor!!!! I think my first taste of it was a snowy broadcast of Monty Python when I was maybe 10 or so in the mid 1970's. picked up by a now old fashioned tv arieal antennea from a Public Television Station in Virginia, as I don't think Kentucky Educational Television had it at that time.

Author's Response:
Er, What can I say to that?
Perhaps his hard drive needs more bytes?

AHHH, Le Muggle de Frances. Pardon my poor French.

The upcoming party will definately be something the whole town will be talking about.

Love how you pack so much within the stories, and buried within the stories.

What a wonderful introduction to the entire parcel of Weasleys!!!!

Loved the double meaning of "burn", quite wonderful, and you perfectly captured each of the Weasely clan.

The house party with the neighbors will be wonderful!!

Can't wait.

Burn is a good northern (and Scottish) and I use it without thinking, until people ask me why. There are a lot of Weasleys, glad you liked them.

OOPPS,

Forgot to mention that Ginny's phone number might have been 8675309, or is that to much of an USA 1980's reference????

I am sure there is a reason behind Ginny's phone number, but I haven't had a chance to figure it out yet.

Edyeb

Author's Response: Edyeb, you’re correct I don’t get the reference, sorry. There is a reason behind the number. All I’ll say is that, in order to enter the Ministry via the phone box, you dial 62442. -N-

Was Al going for The Three Bears as daddy favoritiest???

Looking forward to more. ;)

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I don’t know the recipe! It’s my friend’s mum’s secret. The Tale of the Three Brother’s, is Daddy’s favouritest (of course). -N-

I LOVE LUNA!!!!

And Mary had that coming to her!

Almost party time at the Potters, can't wait.

Seems like meeting the Potters has resparked Mike and Jaqui's marrage or at least love life.

Edyeb
ps( I'm on facebook now!)

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Luna will be sticking around until after the party.
Mike and Jacqui had been in a bit of a rut, hadn't they?

That's ok Neil.

The number I gave you is from a 1980's song named 8675309 (Ginny), I can't remember the name of the group, but it's about a guy calling a girl whose name and number he found on a bathroom wall. It caused quite a stir on this side of the pond as many folks that had that phone number had to get it changed due to the number of calls. I'm sure you can find it in YouTube or iTunes.

Got Ginny's number figured out ( I was busy on the first read through) . Talk about your vaniety phone numbers. I knew you were going with the Ministery reasoning to the number.

Edyeb

Author's Response: Edyeb
Thanks for the clarification. I may try to find it.
Given Ginny's number, you should be able to figure out harry's, too.

I can see the short story now "Weekend on Bikes" where the adults ride to the coastside while leaving the kids with who:Ron and 'Erminoe????

NIce character/watch out for muggles chapter, can't wait for more plot.

As a new Pottermore sorted Hufflepuff (PotionSeeker57), I do like the Rivendell reference. Maybe my thoughts on Jaqui have been influnced by the house, somewhat magical.

Edyeb

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Yes, Mike is now wondering how to persuade his wife that he should buy a new bike. :D
Lots more plot next chapter, plus a very important birthday.
I really should try to get onto Pottermore!

Oh I so needed a good pick me up laugh today, and School Gates did that in a huge way!!!!

I also noticed that Ginny seems to have picked up a bit of legimancy along the way, but I just can't feel sorry for Mary Saville. This reminded me of a dinner I was at once and one of ladies at the table was going on and on about how she had been to all the continents. For some reason, she stopped when I asked her how Antiarticia was. My mother nearly chocked from holding her laughter (or possible refraining from knocking me up side the head).

I am interested in Mr Patterson. Can't remember anyone from the canon with that surname, but I keep thinking that he might have a magicial relation somewhere. Of course a goblin apperating into your office or golf game would have the same effect.

Can't wait for more!!!!!
Edyeb

Author's Response:
This chapter was an enormous amount of fun for me to write. Legilimency? She spoke to Harry. The major problem for Harry and Ginny is going to be covering up James’ little slips. Dishonesty doesn’t come easy for a five year old (they may think they’re being clever and subtle, but…).

Mr Patterson simply received a phone call, isn’t that clear? Oh, dear.

Must have had a nearly senior moments as we say in the states.

And here I was happy that I had figured out Harry's t-shirt a few chapters back.

More>? I’ve just submitted three one shots (a Ron/Hermione, a Neville/Hannah, and a George/Angelina) and I have two more planned (Dennis/OC and Millicent/Marcus (don’t ask about that second)), and still you want more?

Okay :-D -N-

HI, Wonderfull gift to come back from a Key Club chaperoning weekend to a new chapter!!!

Still trying to remember if we have met the Wake's in any of your other stories yet: but then, you have mentioned that you are working on the next chapter of A&S, so maybe we will meet them then.

I do like the way you have been having us go back to your other tailes (even if it is a chapter or so back) to recall a character or event as it comes to play in other stories.

Can't wait for more.

Glad my theory on Jackiw was somewhat correct, just wonder which (or both) kids display magical ablilites first now that they are in nearly daily contact with magic.

Edyeb

Author's Response:
Edyeb

Thanks for the review.

The Wakes will appear in Chapter 5 of “Hunters and Prey” which is the sequel to Aurors and Schoolgirls. (I can be that precise.) Hopefully you don’t need to read my other stuff to know what’s going on, although reading it will give you more background.

We’ll be back to Jacqui’s perspective for the next chapter. This chapter was almost entirely things you need to know which Jacqui can’t find out about. There will be two (or three) third person pov chapters, but mostly I’m sticking with Jacqui.

But is there ANY chance for a mention/reference to Swimsuit Quidditch during the Saturday swim and BBQ??????
