Keep writing!

When Worlds Collide by jenny b

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

Rose was a Weasley. She never gave Scorpius Malfoy a second glance. They were sworn enemies, even though they’d barely even spoken to each other. But sometimes all it takes for love to blossom is a Potions lesson, a few snide remarks and a dropped book.

Two people. Two entirely different worlds that are suddenly intertwined.

The Only Thing by moonymaniac

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Lily Potter’s love and sacrifice for her son is legend. But there was another member of the Potter family. James Potter was more than an arrogant toerag who finally grew up, more than a Marauder, more than a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He was a father.

How on earth would a man like James Potter handle that responsibility, at the tender age of twenty, especially at a time when his world was crumbling all around him?

awww, baby Harry sounds so cute. That was a sad story though, especially at the end when you said "cold late-October air" because we all know what happens at the end of this October:(
really nice story

Author's Response: :( Yes, we all know...*sniffle* The story of Lily and James is just so very heartbreaking, but I wanted James to have a good day with his son. I wish Harry could remember it. Even if it isn't really part of his story. ;) I'm glad you liked it, keara96. Thank you so much for reviewing.

The Free Elf by clabbert2101

I've always loved Dobby as a character. This poem is really well written. Being someone who likes to write and read poetry I know how hard it is to write a good rhyming poem. You did an awesome job. Very vivid imagery also:( Great Job!!!

Sixteen Going On Seventeen by KarasAunty

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Bellatrix Lestrange takes on the Mother of all Weasleys... A humorous (I hope) songfic to the tune of the famous 'The Sound of Music' song. Slightly dark humour. You have been warned!

Date: 01/04/11 Title: Chapter 1: Sixteen Going On Seventeen

I absolutely love the Sound of Music!!Great Idea to make a Harry Potter version, I love that too:) You did a nice job of keeping to the meter of the song.
Small correction? In the fifth stanza, fourth line, is the first "s" supposed to be an "a"? Hope you don’t mind my nitpicking.
Anyway, a fun and well written poem:)

Author's Response:

Thank you very much for your review. Forgive the delayed reply but I've not been onsight for a long while. Glad you enjoyed the song, though I can't see the error you're referring to. Probably means it's written just the way it's supposed to be, but I'm grateful none the less for your vigilance. It could easily have been a mistake, and heaven knows I make my fair share of them!

Thanks,

M :)

Veils by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: It is the night before Petunia Evans' wedding. As she stares at herself in the mirror, she is satisfied with her appearance. The dress is perfect, cleverly cut to give her curves, and she looks like a dream. Yes, the dress is perfection ... but what of the veil?

She has promised Vernon and his formidable mother that she will wear the Dursley veil. It is an antique. A family heirloom.

It is hideous.

What she needs is a miracle to rid her of the ugly thing ... or perhaps a touch of magic.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry in the Weddings Challenge - prompt Big Weddings - in the Great Hall Challenge over at the MNFF beta boards.

Thank you to Samarie (Hopeful_Song) and Kara (Karaley Dargen) for beta'ing this.

Disclaimer: I'm not JK Rowling. I doubt anyone is surprised by that.

Holy Moroley and all things Padfoot! This won the QSQ for Best Marauder Era story. Thank you!

I really enjoyed reading this story. It was a creative and original idea and very well written. I liked how you returned to the present at the end of the story. Good Job:)

Author's Response: Thank you for the review. Mmm, the end caught me by surprise. I was going to leave it as a jokey light hearted end, but then I thought about the veil itself and how it was possible that Petunia still had it. I think deep down she loved her sister, but why she left it so late to show Harry, I don;t know. *sigh* Carole

Her World by msk8

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Iris Dursley is your average eleven-year old. Except her father won't tell her anything about his childhood. Except for the fact that she turned out the lights without touching them.

One day, her father sees a name on her class list, and the whole story comes out. What will happen when Iris enters the Wizarding World?

Disclaimer: I am about as likely to own Harry Potter in the next century as I am likely to own a house on Pluto. (in other words, not remotely likely.)

I read this right when you posted it a while ago, but didn't review then. It's good so far. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this. Please post the next chapter!!!

Author's Response: Hi Izbit. I'm glad you're waiting with such anticapation... I am, too. Teh plot is being difficult. I actually wrote the next chapter, but since it didn't really work with the plot, I discarded it. I have yet to finish fixing it... :/ But it is coming, albeit slowly.

It was short but very meaningful.
There was a lot of emotion put into a small amount of words.
Nice job, Megan!

Author's Response: Thanks! I think I do better with short poems. They ussually turn out more potent. And I can never seem to make the stanzas match in longer poems.Thankee for teh reveiw, Elizabeth. :D

Well written and very sweet. I always like reading more about Teddy. The characters were all very real and loveable. Nice job and Merry Christmas!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I appreciate the compliments. I'm really glad you enjoyed this story, especially if it is about a character you like - I haven't written about Teddy much I'm glad it worked. Thanks for leaving such a nice review, I really appreciate it! ~Gina :)

The Torture of Hermione Granger by littlebird

Date: 02/18/11 Title: Chapter 1: The Torture of Hermione Granger

very vivid! Your description was really great. I was confused by the ending too, but I read some of the other reviews and your responses and now I understand:)
Nice job!

Author's Response: Thank you for reading and reviewing! I'm glad you liked it. They say, whoever "they" may be, that writers should show instead of tell. I hope I showed you what it might feel like to teeter on the edge of madness. Or maybe I just really like the room that a bit of ambiguity leaves for the reader to move about in.

The Remains by Moody

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco Malfoy lives with a terrible secret. Dudley Dursley must face what would probably be his Boggart, and Harry Potter's Auror Department is under constant public criticisms for ,seemingly, related dark and sinister incidents he just cannot seem to solve.

Black With a Hint of Red by Ginny Weasley Potter

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Love is a very bizarre form of emotion. People can die for it. People can kill for it…

Rose Weasley is in her fifth year at Hogwarts. Love is in the air, but so is exam fever; and Hogwarts is heavy with a weird combination of nervous cheesiness. But isn’t this the story every year? It’s normal. It’s right.

And then everything goes wrong.

A student— Rose’s classmate dies tragically and unexpectedly one day. The death sends shock waves through Rose and her friends, staggering them to a great extent. Furthermore, investigations conducted by Rose’s Uncle Harry reveal a startling piece of information, placing everybody in even more shock. The death is, in fact homicide— and homicide committed by a student. Soon enough, Relationships are strained, faiths are broken and hatred is intensified. That is when Rose realises that she is not prepared to face any of it; and all she craves is for things to be the way they were before the tragedy…

This is a story about how love can make people cross the limits they never knew... a story of how love combined with obsession, deceit and jealousy can be as destructive of hatred.

This is Ginny Weasley Potter of Hufflepuff writing for the 2011 Mysterious May Challenge in the Great Hall, Prompt #2— The Trained Professional. I have moved this story into the next-gen category, because I feel it fits in better there.

I need chapter 3!!!:) This is good so far. I'm excited to see what happens next. Small correction: I believe "Pomphrey" is supposed to be "Pomfrey."

Author's Response: Thank you for your review! And Pomfrey... LOL. I actually knew something was wrong, but wasn't able to put a finger to it. :p Thanks! I'll correct it. Chapter 3 is in progress... :)

If by Half_BloodPrincess

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: When the backbone of Slytherin House is in need who is there for him to turn to? First in a series of three - If, So and Then.
Reviewer: keara96 Signed
Date: 05/27/11 Title: Chapter 1: If

Awww:( you just made me love Draco even more. I feel so bad for him. You make him seem like such a sweetie, very innocent, and just misunderstood. It seems like most stories I've read here have portrayed Draco in this light. The books never really said how he turned out. Did he stay on the "dark" side, or change his ways? I personally like to think the latter.:) This is a really nice one-shot. Good job!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed reading this! I have to admit that I adore a bit of a soppy Draco, it just seems more likely that the other other Slytherins would like him if he were nice, and his bite only being for those who hurt him. Look out, I'm in the process of writing a sort-of sequel to this, as soon as as it's finished I'll submit it, I hope you'll enjoy that one too! Much thanks for the review :)

Crookshanks's Tale by ginevra715

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Hermione may not know it, but her cat is leading a life of his own within the walls of Hogwarts. Does he just chase Scabbers for sport, or is there more to the tale?
Reviewer: keara96 Signed
Date: 10/11/11 Title: Chapter 1: Crookshanks's Tale

Awww:) That was a cute and funny story. I perhaps will think differently of Crookshanks and Mrs.( or should I say Madam) Norris now. This is a really creative idea for a one-shot. I can never seem to think of good plot idea like this. I don't usually like animal stories, but I enjoyed this one. I liked your characterization of Crookshanks. You're a very good writer. Keep it up.

Author's Response: Thank you! I feel like I can't come up with plot lines that could even come close to J.K. Rowling's, so I like to stay away from her main characters and write short asides with the minor characters.
