Just a nineteen year old girl loving life. Off at college. I love writing, as you can probably tell considering me having an account on this site. While my peers groaned at the mention of a writing assignment, I jumped at the chance to take an extra creative writing class in school or (GASP!) writing on my own, for fun. Anyway, I hope to have the time and patience to give you what you want.

Someone To Watch Over Me by MagEd

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: 2009 QSQ Awards Winner for Best Chaptered Canon Romance

Before the chosen one was ever born, his parents had to meet, fall in love, and defy Voldemort three times. Easier said than done. This is the story of Lily and James, the trials they face, and how James finally wins Lily's heart. (pre-Deathly Hallows)

Hey! My name is Melissa and I just wanted to know how poignant and touching your story was. I've read a lot of fan fic, but yours is by far the best I've ever read. The way you develop each character and give them such real and human emotions, it really is amazing. I read this entire story in two days, all my free time spent with my eyes glued to the screen. I spent both nights up past midnight because I was transfixed.I was lost in the story. I know, being a writer myself, that that is all one can wish for from their audience. That they felt connected to the story and were able to relate to the aspects of the story. James/Lily have always been my favorite couple. I don't know what it is, but something about them always leaves me wanting more. Though I wish J.K. Rowling would just give in and write a story about them, I doubt she will. Rest assured, though, your story has appeased my appetite. For now. Thank you for this brilliant contribution to the world.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! That's certainly high praise! I know what it's like to have a really good fanfiction (or book) consume all my free time and I simply can't look away until it's finished, and I'm so happy to know that this fanfiction was like that for you -- you're right, that is all a writer can wish from her audience :) I wish J.K. Rowling would give in, too, but I guess fanfiction will have to do instead of it! Thanks again.

Vengeance is Beautiful by amadora

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: James and Harry are dead; killed by Voldemort. Lily was spared. Grief-stricken, but determined, she sets out to avenge their deaths. Everyone that played a part must suffer: their traitorous secret-keeper, the Dark Lord himself… But what Lily didn’t count on was that her childhood friend - who insists on joining her on her quest - is also partly to blame.

Love this! This particular what-if situation had always been so fascinating to me. What if things hadn't happened that night as Jo had written them? I'm writing a story along the same premise as yours right now. Well, sort of. James dies, but both Harry and Lily live.
I'm looking forward to Severus being featured in your story, or at least that's who I'm assuming "the childhood friend who partly guilty" is. Snape is a part of my story as well, and there's a conversation in which his partial guilt in the matter is brought up. Such a poignant concept.
I also really like Sirius' character. Exactly how he would act. I wrote him in a very similar manner. I especially like the line “I’m gonna kill him,” Sirius said in a tone that suggested that whether he wanted to or not, it was just a fact. He was going to kill Peter. He had little choice in the matter." Very perfect. It's just in his nature. He's the one who has to do it.
In any case, really nice stuff! Looking forward to more. Check out my story if you want. :)

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Severus pops up in chapter three I want to say... There's also a scene in my story where he admits to what he did. I'm writing it currently (around chapter 10) and an overall theme of this story is the guilt that so many people feel for what happened, and how so many people played a part in it. I love writing Sirius :) Thanks, I always try very hard with the characterization so it's good to hear I'm doing it right. Your story sounds interesting - I'm guessing she won't go on the Horcrux hunt as she has a child to raise (on her own - *tear* - I love James, even though I killed him), and I always enjoy a good AU! Thanks again for reading and for the review!
