Scenes from Shell Cottage by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: This fic is a series of missing moments from the time H/R&H were at Shell Cottage, beginning immediately after they Disapparated from Malfoy Manor. JKR shows us what was going on with Harry, but this is my version of what could have happened with Ron and Hermione after one of the most emotional/disturbing events in the entire series.

UPDATED June 2010 When I first wrote this fic, I didn't know what a beta reader was, and frankly, it showed. Thanks so much to Natalie for helping me polish this up and make it more readable. Thanks also to both Julia and Carole, whose helpful comments in the review section allowed me to make some much-needed corrections during the rewrite. I would love to know what you think ~ reviews are very much appreciated!

This was nominated in the 2010 Quicksilver Quill Awards for Best Canon Romance.

Amazing!! I just registered at this site JUST so I could post a review to you. The plot, the CHARACTERS, the dialogue, even their humor - everything was perfect. I could see and hear it in my mind. Thank you so much for this story. I've been looking for a Shell Cottage missing moments and ran across a rec for this story from HeRonFan at fanfic.net This made my day, week, etc.! Do you post anywhere else? I'd love to see a continuation of this piece... :)

Author's Response: Hey Ruth, thanks for the kind words. I'm surprised this was recommended on another site--I've never been to that site in my life, but I'm thrilled you found me and liked the story. I had so much fun writing it, and it scratched a really irksome itch for me, after Deathly Hallows. This site is home base for me, but I have posted a couple of my stories at Simply Undeniable as well. Mugglenet is my fave though. :) If you liked this, you might enjoy some of my other R/Hr, when you get a chance. Thanks again for taking the time to register and leave a review. I really appreciate it!

I dropped by, AGAIN, to reread your story. This is one of my favorites. All the elements are here, and you are a truly gifted storyteller. It's a wonderful balance of character development and missing moments - exactly what I'm looking to experience when I read fanfic. Love the trio's interactions too, and Bill, and Fleur, oh and Luna. You get the idea. Ron's quick conflicting thoughts about Harry's survival and his poor timing is spot-on. And love Harry's tease at the end of the story about kissing "Bellatrix.".

Please write more Ron and Hermione! It's interesting how few stories are out there about them compared to non canon pairings. Do you think writers just don't see enough conflict or UST?

Anyway, this, and all your stories show your writing talents well.

Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much Ruth for rereading this and taking the time to leave me another review. It seriously makes my day to know you would come back and read seven chapters because you enjoyed it that much. *squish* I'm not sure why more folks don't write Romione. I wish there was more of it around because it would be a whole lot easier when I need a fix!! ;) I do have something in the works that would be a similar length to this and is basically canon missing moments from HBP-DH, but it's down the line on my priority list right now. Got to finish this Ernie fic and get back to Taking Direction first. But please keep checking back. I can't leave Ron and Hermione alone for very long, I promise. Thanks again, and take care. ~ Lori

Girl Talk & Goodbyes by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: The wedding cake is gone; the bride and groom are honeymooning. Yet Molly Weasley cannot seem to relax and enjoy the family that lingers in the aftermath of the celebration. She knows the easy laughter they enjoy tonight will be short lived, because three teenagers are leaving in the morning with a job so serious no one will even speak its nature aloud.

Molly knows no magic that will stop morning from coming. But she can make stew and fan the flames of laughter; she can tell someone something she's been wanting to say for years. And she can hold them all while she has them.

Sigh. Just lovely. What I enjoy must about reading your work (this is my second piece you've written) is how much time I get to spend with the characters. I feel like a fly on the wall peeking in on their lives which I guess is why I read fanfic - to know more and be with the characters. You don't rush your stories and allow the characters to grow through dialogue and behavior. Thank you so much for another great read. For some reason, I just loved Mrs. Weasley's line about Lavendar - calling her purple something.

Author's Response: Oh, thanks so much. This is actually one of the earliest things I've written, and I think my lack of experience/canon understanding kind of shows in it. But it's still close to my heart. I read a lot of fics where Molly and Arthur are obstacles to R/Hr in a relationship, and I just do not see that at all. I think they would be very supportive, and I enjoyed exploring the idea of Molly giving her a bit of a push in the right direction. I'm glad you thought it worked, and thrilled you enjoyed the "purple something" line. :) Thanks for checking out my stories--I get excited for new reviews.

Glass Ginny by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Ginny Weasley has a strong spirit, and is not given to weepy emotional displays. But when her friend is taken from the Hogwarts Express during her sixth year, her fears begin to rumble and rage... at least for a moment.

This is WeasleyMom of Hufflepuff writing for the final of the Hogwarts Missing Moments class.

I am delighted that this fic has been added to the SBBC Hall of Fame on the Beta Boards. Thanks to my fellow SBBC-ers!

I don't know how I missed this before. Wonderful piece of writing and filling in a moment. Your writing as always is full of details that add to the character's thoughts and motivations. Loved the bit about her feet in the tile. Ginny seemed real and her thoughts about Luna, the trio, and especially Ron, added to the reality you created.

Author's Response: Haha... I decided to catch up on responding to reviews for this, and yours popped up as I was doing it! LOL. Thanks so much, as always, for reading and taking the time to leave a review. I'm glad you thought it worked and that you said "especially Ron," as that bit was something I was very attached to in the writing. I nearly parted with it because the flashback felt awkward for a while, but in the end, I just couldn't do it. They don't gush in the books, but I have to believe Ron and Ginny are very close (even if such things go unexpressed). Take care, and thanks again for the read and review.

The Girl from DRaCo MC by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Office work is, in the main, boring and monotonous. But sometimes something unexpected happens.

Oh, I enjoyed that! I'm just starting to read your work and look forward to more. My favorite fics to read include Ron and Hermione so thank you for this time with them. I liked their interactions and dialogue and how you incorporated the deluminator into the plot. I must admit to liking a strong, capable Ron. :)

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. All of my stories are interlinked and while Harry and Ginny are my main couple it’s hard to separate them from Ron/Hermione. Canon Ron is definitely capable and will take charge when needed. -N-

My Brave Face by grangergirl35

Then, one afternoon in February, she's called to St. Mungo's, where everything is ruined, and she's forced to remember the easier past.

Even though I know Ron is dead, I'm enjoying reading your story, particularly as Hermione remembers her past. I can see Ron proposing like that. :)

It's hard to find Ron and Hermione stories so thank you! I look forward to reading more.

Author's Response: I have trouble writing through the fact that Ron is dead. . . but I'm doing my best to make up for that fact :D And Ron proposing like that . . . I know right? I get what you mean about R/Hr stories . . . too many of those dang Dramiones on the archives, and those tend to be my pet peeves . . . :D I will continue to submit and submit at a rapid pace, but in the end its up to my Mod . . . :D

Moving Ginny by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: After her brother's Potter-assisting activities are discovered by Death Eaters, Ginny's Easter holiday take a bit of a sour turn.

A missing moment from Deathly Hallows

I'm not J.K. Rowling, which should be obvious as soon as you being reading. Haha.

Another great story, WeasleyMom. You have a way and ease with words which makes your storytelling satisfying. I wish you didn't stop at this point, I wanted to go in with them and hear more. Will you write a new Ron and Hermione story soon?

Author's Response: Cool. :) It's a good thing to leave folks wanting more, right? Hehe. I am working on Romione stuff but it's chaptered and may not be up for a while. But you asking me made my day, Ruth. Take care. And thanks again for the review. I'm glad you liked it.

Another Horcrux Down by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: This story is a missing moment from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. We know Ron and Hermione descend into the Chamber of Secrets in search of basilisk fangs, and we know they succeed. But what exactly happened down there? This story provides a possible answer to that question.

This is WeasleyMom of Hufflepuff writing for the Illustration for Inspiration Challenge in the Great Hall.

My inspiration was a drawing done by Carole/EquinoxChick, featuring Hermione's hand stabbing the cup with a basilisk fang. Thanks, Carole! You unknowingly pushed me to write something I've had in my head since DH came out.

Thrilled to announce this story tied for third place in the challenge!

Holy Hufflepuff! This won a 2012 QSQ Award for Best Canon Romance, one-shot! I am thrilled and so, so grateful!

You write the best Ron and Hermione stories. This moment was perfectly in character and I liked the underlying UST. I so appreciate a clever, confident, and joking Ron.

I wish you wrote more of these moments!

Author's Response: I was so glad to see you'd read this. :) I always appreciate you reading and taking the time to leave a reivew. So glad you enjoyed the UST, and of course, Ron. Sigh. ;) More of these are coming, so stay tuned. Thanks again! ~ Lori
