VV, thanks for everything! You are the most spectacular Beta a girl could ask for

Speaking of who, everyone should be reading everything by Vindictus Viridian. There is an spectacular fic by her called 'In the Eyes of Others' that is an in-depth very canon-like history of Severus Snape. It will make you laugh, cry, wince in pain and hate Lucius Malfoy more than you ever have or, if you go that way, love him even more. It's really quite a brilliant Opus that she's got going on. And if you're the kind of person who reads things because other authors you like recommend them (and I assume you're reading my profile because you like something I've written), then you should run to go read it. Now!

For those looking for author's recs, I'd personally check out the following one-shots first:

It's Easy
With You in Your Dreams
Return to Grimmauld Place
Mastering the Maze
Seasons of love
Summer Letters
The Phoenix Speaks
Come Hell
The Wolf
Founders Four
The End of the World

In the Eyes of Others by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Severus has never seen the appeal of repetition, particularly of things that ended badly the first time. In his life, he has kept one pet, owned one broom, and had one close friend.

Winner of Mod Quicksilver Quill for Best Novel! Thanks, all!

Rating and warnings do not apply to all chapters; I just didn't want anyone hooked and then shocked.
"What is it?" His mother held out her hand, and he put the letter in it wordlessly. "Are you eleven already?"

His father lowered the newspaper to look at the calendar. "Yesterday. ‘Appy birthday." And that was the end of that.

GoS: She is being humble. The next few chapters are absolutely wonderful. I would suggest that everyone who reads this sticks with it to the end. This story is, as far as I'm concerned, the canon of Snape's life, in the same way that the Shoebox_project is for Wolfstar. It only gets better...

Author's Response: Aw shucks. Utterly shameless, my dear Beta!

A Fairy Tale by Fairy-Light by Mudblood428

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •

Ooh! I really, really liked this! "Let's not wait fifty years for the next one." And the story-telling is just...I can picture that so clearly. And the 'bloody hell' about her red lips. Ooh. Perfectly lovely.

Little Ratty Paws by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Have you ever gotten halfway through an experimental kiss and realized that yes, this really was a good idea? Remember, it's the quiet, mousy ones you should look out for...

Sirius comes back from a Marauder jaunt with a sleeping rat curled up in his hair and a mood that won't quite go away.

A whiskery nose poked lightly at the side of Sirius’ jaw. Little ratty paws laid their claws lightly on his neck. Peter was awake and hoping for a little help changing back. Sirius held still and kept his breath regular. A small paw settled on his cheek. Sirius thought Peter could bloody well leave him alone and go back to sleep, since finally he was relaxed.

The pointy nose suddenly plunged into his ear and snuffled furiously, whiskers vibrating. Sirius wasn’t particularly ticklish, but everyone has limits. Sirius discovered his with a stifled yelp. “All right, all right!” he hissed, and fumbled for his wand. Pointing it over his shoulder, he performed the spell to help Peter back to his normal shape.

Disclaimer: I am the only person who is allowed to make any kind of comment along the lines that I am about to make because I am the beta and hold all rights to candid comments. I am also the queen of the Wolfstar ship. So: Blattigrew Padtail Wormfoot *shudders* Anyway you do it...it's just wrong.

Author's Response: Severus points out that at least it keeps either from reproducing. I think I'll just sit about smirking evilly for a bit.

Oh, V V, you know how I really feel about the fic. I just can't say it here or they'd come at me with pitchforks...

Author's Response: We want no pitchforks here! Nobody may pitchfork my beta -- on penalty of needing to buy a hip flask!

The Curse of the Toad by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: "If you judge people, you have no time to love them." --Mother Teresa.

To love James, Lily needs to discover his better side. To earn Lily's love, James needs to fight his own prejudices -- and learn to cope with battle-scarred tomcats, toads, and the sneakier side of his own nature. This was a Ravenclaw entry for February's Challenges -- and it won, by the way.

The SSP warning is because I simply cannot resist sticking Peter and Sirius together at all possible opportunities, even in the background of other higher pursuits. Mild profanity will also occur, a natural side effect of putting James and Severus within shouting distance of each other.

*sigh* Have I told you that I loved you recently? Ever? I think I laughed out loud five times, snorted three and did one of those 'disbelieving sounds of shocked laughter' as well. My father is going slightly out of his mind trying to figure out what in the world I'm doing to make me make noises like that. *snicker* I absolutely LOVE the way you have the Marauders interacting with one another and I love your Remus. (*huggles* poor, left out, ignored lycanthropist). Do I get previews on the next or not?

Author's Response: Aw, shucks.
As far as I'm concerned, your father is welcome to read it, but the Sirius/Peter stuff would probably bother him, no? Now I have to figure out where the shocked-laugh snort went. And preview is on its way, as I think I figured out where that pesky chapter break goes. Thanks for popping by to review!

Blue Eyes Reproachful by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Long enough to make sense...Short enough for Pig to carry...Long enough to say everything...Short enough for -- maybe send Pig somewhere else and borrow Hermes?

Originally for the February Challenges -- "It is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all." A sequel to "Blue Eyes Reflecting."

Still breaks my heart.

Author's Response: Aw, shucks. Thanks for reviewing!

A Furry Little Problem by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The young and bored Sirius Black amuses himself with the top hat in his closet, inspired by the nefarious influence of Muggle television. **Warning -- natural rabbit behaviour within**

ROTFLMAO. Oh. This is good. This is very good. Much better than the 'Sirius Black, age 36, cause of death: curtain' Hee. Although I have to say that up until that last paragraph I had the feeling that he was younger than sixteen. A sixteen year old Sirius ought to know that the opposite of Vanishing is Conjuring, no?

Author's Response: Well, you don\'t get to do Conjuring \'til sixth year, so although it may be in his head somewhere he\'s not remembering it now. Besides, it was funny that way. Glad you enjoyed it, dearie!

Curves by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Lily returns to Hogwarts at the beginning of her sixth year and discovers how inconvenient it is to be sixteen, pretty, and Muggleborn.

*giggles inappropriately*

Author's Response: ??? Yes, dear. Utterly inappropriate. You\'re waiting for Rosier and Wilkes to get swirlies, aren\'t you?

That's twice in one day you've made me giggle inappropriately. Tsk. For shame dear. *gigglesnerk*

Author's Response: For shame?? I take pride in my talents!
