Crossing the Board by Seren

Summary: There have always been arguments over which piece of the board is the most powerful. Most will say the Queen; she can mimic any move, take any square. Others will say the King; despite his limited mobility, the entire point is to protect your king and capture your opponents. It is the center piece of the game. There are any number of arguments for five of the pieces. The last piece, or pieces, are often neglected. They are the front line, the first defence, and the first to fall. All but one. And Ron must see it to the other side.

Wow, this was a three-dimensional story! I had this image of Ron back in the Philosipher's Stone, fighting across the chessboard, and an image of him playing himself in sixth year, and it went back and forth. The chess instructions served as anchors to keep the two paralel. Anyway, that's what I thought about it. Great, that's what it was.

Wow, this is amazing. I was a little meh when I saw that it was about Mundugus (I figured the whole thing would be about Hermione's secret obsession with him or something along those lines), but was definitely surprised when it went on to other characters. Nice use of Ginny in the middle to bring us back to reality again for a moment, and then tears were in my eyes at Harry and Ron. I hope somebody, somewhere, remembers me as the guy how offers to buy a sweet.

What IS she doing there? Naughty Hermione!! I actually had to turn away for a moment during that breif rape scene -- I mean, you can easily find much more graphic scenes on the internet, but that just made me... I dunno, I felt kinda scared for a moment. It's hard to describe. It was good though.
