Another Horcrux Down by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: This story is a missing moment from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. We know Ron and Hermione descend into the Chamber of Secrets in search of basilisk fangs, and we know they succeed. But what exactly happened down there? This story provides a possible answer to that question.

This is WeasleyMom of Hufflepuff writing for the Illustration for Inspiration Challenge in the Great Hall.

My inspiration was a drawing done by Carole/EquinoxChick, featuring Hermione's hand stabbing the cup with a basilisk fang. Thanks, Carole! You unknowingly pushed me to write something I've had in my head since DH came out.

Thrilled to announce this story tied for third place in the challenge!

Holy Hufflepuff! This won a 2012 QSQ Award for Best Canon Romance, one-shot! I am thrilled and so, so grateful!

This is perhaps my favourite Romione fic thus far.
I'm glad that you didn't take any liberties and make too much happen in the Chamber. You built it up just right for the eventual kiss that happens later on.
I LOVE the idea of what the Horcrux showed Hermione. I always wondered what insecurities Hermione would have. You dd a good job picking them up, and compiling them the way you did.
You showed the intense side of Ron without deviating from his "emotional range of a teaspoon" character. You stuck to his personality, yet you showed how much he cared about Hermione.
Definitely a fic I would come back to read again!
Great work!

Author's Response: Yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I definitely wanted it to work as a true missing moment, working with existing canon. Good that you thought my choices for Hermione's insecurities worked all right--to be honest, I was worried about that because we just don't know what it might have shown her. I think there are a few ways it could go, but this was the one I couldn't get out of my head. Thanks again for taking the time to read and review this. I'm thrilled you liked it enough to consider a reread! Take care! ~Lori

Wonderfully written.
I've been a fan of Fred and George Weasley throughout the series. Naturally, Fred's death broke my heart.
I seek some kind of solace in reading Fred and George fan fiction. However, I find that very few of them actually hit the target where their humor is concerned. The Weasley twins have their own brand of humor, and only the most experienced of writers can pick up on that humor and bring it out in their story.
You are most definitely one of them.
It was heart rendingly humorous, and I enjoyed every bit of it. It's completely believable, and I like to think that what you wrote actually happened.

Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and reviewing :) Fred's death broke us all I think. Fanfic is where we all go to to pretend that it never happened. Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed this :)

Wonderfully written! I can clearly hear Remus's calm, yet determined voice throughout the story. His thoughts match his character perfectly. I enjoyed his reaction at first meeting James, and then Harry. The flashback was written strategically well.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found him in character, yay! And I'm glad the flashback worked, as those can be tricky. Thank you so much for the lovely review, I'm so happy you enjoyed it! ~Gina :)
