I did consider there being relations between Ron and Harry. What I evetually decided/came up with was the fact that Ron was distantly related to Draco on Draco's mother's side (the Black side) while Harry is related to Draco on Draco's father's side. Draco's great-great-grandmother Alexandra was a Potter and then married a Malfoy, (the horror.) So there would be no connection between the Potters and the Blacks unless there was something further back or very insignificant.
I know. I've thought this through way too much.
