Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Az-No-Fans! by hal_01

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Holy cream-filled cadaver! Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Az-No-Fans! is what God meant to create when he slipped, took a nosedive and accidentally created what we call earth. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Az-No-Fans is the perfect world in which we were all meant to live. It is perfection. READ IT OR FOREVER REMAIN IMPERFECT.

I will read on. I don't know why. A strange feeling compels me. So much ooc. So much. The only words I said whist reading the 1st chapter is What the fuck? I said that alot.

Pride vs. Prejudice by bittersweet_lullaby

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: I remember the first day I saw them together. It was sixth year, before Mum and Dad came and got Padma and me. I was walking up to the Shrieking Shack and I saw them, pressed up against a tree, kissing.

Two sisters; one too proud, one too prejudiced.

Parvati Patil reflects on her sister's girlfriend and how it affected not only her sister's life, but her own as well.

Brief, but full of meaning. You have a way of expressing what it's like to have a homosexual sibling, and the reprimands of it. I do wish it was longer with more depth, but that's probably personal preference. Overall 4/5

Never by idapida86

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: He fell for the one person he should not.
By being in love with Hermione Granger, he is making himself vulnerable, putting himself in danger.
Will she ever find out?

Somewhat lacking in detail, but nice in a tragic way. 3/5

Pushit by MaiaMadness

Rated: Professors •
Summary:
“Saw that gap again today as you were begging me to stay. Managed to push myself away, and you as well, my dear. You still love me and you push it on me. And I’m slipping back into the gap again. I feel alive when you touch me. I feel alive when you hold me down. If, when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay, you minimise my movement anyway, I must persuade you another way. Pushing and shoving and pushing me… There’s no love in fear!”

This wasn’t the way it was meant to be, staring at each other over pieces of broken glass, the air heavy with the echo of angry words and endless regret. This wasn’t how it was meant to be…

This is actually one of the most accurate Harry/Draco parings that I've seen. They love each other, but with Draco's controlling nature and Harry's resistance, it doesn't work out. Top marks! =)

Twilit Woods by inspirations

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:
'The sun has set now - time goes so quickly for us. I wish we had longer.’

Two people have snatched moments together most evenings, under the shadow of the setting sun. Their meetings are forbidden. Hogwarts is safe, but the school grounds? They're not.

Date: 09/26/13 Title: Chapter 1: Time Goes So Quickly...

Kinda brief, and left me more confused than ever. Sequel?

Author's Response: Yeah, I wrote this quite quickly I think and I meant to leave it quite open as I had no idea what was coming next as I was writing. Sorry, there won't be a sequel as I've moved away from fanfiction now. Thanks xx

What's So Great About Her by DragonBane

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Lavender's depressed. She just can't seem to get over Ron Weasley...and the fact that he led her on while clearly being in love with someone else. The solution? Quitely getting drunk in her bed, away from the party downstairs in the common room. But what happens with the easiest person to blame stumbles in?

Date: 10/02/13 Title: Chapter 1: What's So Great About Her

Very nice twist at the end. It had a natural progression, although I think it's a little OOC for Hermione to ignore the consequences of something that major. But all in all, a 3/5

The Colour of Distance by the opaleye

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:
It’s quiet now. The universe is standing still.

She stares out across the great expanse of water.

He watches her longing gaze.

Finally alone.

My final task for the 'Watching the Mirror' class on the beta boards.

Nominated in the 2010 Quicksilver Quill Awards for Best Non-Canon Romance.

You have a very nice (and rare) way of expressing harry's and hermione's feelings: they don't want to do it, yet they must. A very nice read, 5/5

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's lovely to see people stumbling across this fic again :)

A Promise to Keep by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:

Ginny Weasley Potter is newly married, but matrimony was proving to be more difficult than she had ever expected. Harry was nearly always working, and her dreams of wedded bliss were slowly slipping though her fingers.

And then came Gabrielle Delacour, an incidental acquaintance and an unlikely ally. Gabrielle tries to help Ginny mend her soul and her marriage, but slowly, Ginny realises that there is more to this newfound friendship than she had ever thought possible.

This is fantastic; however, before I will continue, I will point out the bad, and then bury you with the great. A few minor misspellings, that once or twice gave me pause, but didn't stop the overall flow of the piece. I didn't like how quickly Gabrielle accepted Ginny's approach: it just felt to...easy, I guess you could say. I also didn't like the time frame. Doubting their marriage after only a week (ish)? Just seems a little rushed for me. However, this coin does have two sides, and I will show you the happier one. OMFG I flipping loved this! The naturalness of it all. Ginny feeling sexually deprived (your exact words I think) and Gabby being there for her, even barely knowing her. I feel like this could totally happen. And Harry in Ginny's dreams and thoughts constantly? And her realization once she slept with Gabby and the guilt she feels? I can't get enough of this! I especially loved when you were pointing out that Harry can sometimes get a little clueless about relationships. It was so true to the Potterverse!!! I actually laughed at that part. Very well done!

Cut by hestiajones

Close Your Eyes by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Hermione and Lavender weren't particular friends. It was true they shared a dormitory, but for much of their school time they lived parallel and separate lives. Then Lavender helped Hermione get ready for the Yule Ball and that set off a chain of events that left both girls confused.

This story was inspired by a suggestion from Gina (Gmariam) and a drabble written for Natalie (hestiajones). This story is in no way 'caron -compliant' with Lavender, blue - a Gryffindor true.

Thank you Natalie for beta'ing this story.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, her lawyers agree, so don't confuse us. Lawyers for Miss Brown and Miss Granger were unavailable for comment.

It Takes Two to Tango by lucca4

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

They cannot keep doing this; it is only a matter of whose resolve will break first. They may have grown distant, their friendship may never mend, but something else has begun. Similarly to the sultry dance so reminiscent of their stolen kisses, drifting apart is only the beginning.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling and I definitely don't own her world.

Winner for 2011 QSQ - Best Same Sex Pairing, along with Equinox Chick's Monochrome, one of the most beautiful stories on this site. Thank you immensely for nominating/voting!

Huge, huge thank you to Natalie/hestiajones for beta-ing this.

I will always have the time. This is a very powerful slash, and I will explain why. You convey what can, and probably has happened to friends. "I like kissing you...but I don't want it in the long run". This is very different from alot of femmeslashes in the way that, it embraces a future of what might happen, instead of worring about now. This actually has the chance of a sequel (and if you already made one I apologize) It isn't nessacarly dark, but it is emotionally deeper than some other slashes. Well done!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write me a review! I'm sorry the response is so late, college life is harder than I expected :\ . Anyway, I am so happy you liked this fic! I really wanted to explore the friendship aspect of it, because I love the idea of being friends first and romantic partners second, but it always makes it so much harder when things go awry. I don't have a sequel up for this yet, but I've written a few drabbles about their future and referenced it in a few stories, so there is a high probability I will return to writing about them in the future :). Thank you so much again!

My Funny Valentine by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Looking forward to a romantic Valentine's Day with his fiancee, Ginny Weasley, Harry finds himself caught up in a truly hideous case with Romilda Vane from the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Department.

Seven men have been accused of inappropriate behaviour with the same girl, and Romilda is sure she knows who is to blame. Is it simple Muggle-baiting, or does the witch concerned have her talons flexed towards an unsuspecting eighth victim?

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. This is far, far too silly to have come from her quill.

Happy Valentine's Day to all the readers and writers on MNFF.

As you have said, it is silly; but enjoyable for those who want a quick laugh

I feel like it was too brief, with little conflict. It had potential, but the execution was lacking. Great try tho!

When the River Runs Uphill by bunnyzilla

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:

There are suitors at my door
Six or eight or maybe more
And my father wants me wed
Or at least that's what he said.

And I told him that I will
When the river runs uphill
And the fish begin to fly
Or the day before I die.

Daphne Greengrass lives in a home that harbors no love, only motives. Pansy Parkinson is trapped in a marriage with a man she hardly knows. Moral dilemmas are rather unpleasant things, especially when you have to chose between yourself and those you hold closest.

Nominated for a 2011 Quicksilver Quill! Thank you~

Date: 10/01/13 Title: Chapter 1: Suitors At My Door

Wow, I've never seen Daphne depicted this way. Although nice bit of foreshadowing there. I hope that you write more, this was, again, very good. The irony doesn't escape me, though, that in marriage, it's normally the man dreading it. Nice bit of work nonetheless!

A Game of Fire by lucca4

Rated: Professors •

But for Susan, this is enough. She has loved and lost before, and she can’t handle losing again.

mmm, make you melt? then how does it feel when I tell you that this is wonderful? that this is very well written and explains that this is probably how some relationships end irl? you like that?

Author's Response: That is so sweet of you - thank you so much! I actually expanded this into a chaptered fic called Up in Flames (still on the fire theme :P). xx Ariana

Hell and High Water by Misdemeanor1331

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Life’s choices are unfair, difficult, and occasionally impossible. But to stand in inaction is to perish, and to perish is to fail. What determines survival, and ultimately success, is one’s ability to adapt to the consequences of the action taken, regardless of whether it’s right or wrong.

The Caustic Ticking of the Clock by xxbabewithbrainsxx

Guilt-stricken halts, pales, clings to the prince

As amid the hectic music and cocktail talk

Bliss by lucca4

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:

Cho Chang is contently married to the Muggle man of her dreams (or so she tells herself). The Wizarding World and all the pain it brought is far behind her -- at least, that is what she believes until she bumps into an old classmate.

Pansy Parkinson weaves her way through bars and men (in that order) and tries to forget which side she was on. She needs help, but she isn’t sure how.

Perhaps, it takes recognising sorrow to move on to bliss.

This story is for the GH Cotillion Challenge. Thank you, Jess and Viv, for setting such an ingenious challenge!

This is one of the most accurate rarepairs I've read. There is no love (not obvious anyway) but there is a need for each other, a dependance born of circumstance, and that makes it all the more believable.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much! I really enjoy exploring different kinds of love, and this one was one of my favorite to write - a symbiotic sort of thirst for something more. I am so glad you liked it! xx Ariana
