Taking Direction by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: What if the characters in the Harry Potter films were portrayed—not by actors—but by the book versions of themselves, as created by Rowling? How might things unfold on that set? What would the characters think of the changes made from the stories they’d already lived out… to the ones written for the script?

This fic is a series of one-shots, posted as chapters, each from the perspective of a different character who is dealing with the changes occurring between the book and the script.

Holy Movie Canon, Batman! This fic won the 2011 Quicksilver Quill Award for Best Chaptered Humor Story. Thanks so, so much!

Really funny fic! Naturally, Ron and Hermione have to have an argument over the Lavender scene. In particular loved Ron's line about Harry being atrocious around girls. The Dumbledore line about attacking another student was priceless! (I may love the films, but GoF definitely fell short of the mark, and the notorious 'Angrydore' scene is about the only change I find absolutely unforgivable.) Kerp up the good work!

Tooth in the Brain by teh tarik

Summary:

It's funny, Tom, the way you eat my words.

Ginny Weasley hates books. Irma Pince loves them.

Very dark story- as it should be. Frankly, many underestimate how dark the Horcrux subplot of CoS was. The Basilisk attack on Myrtle was well-done. I do wonder though why Tom would reveal himself to Madam Pince, of all people and why Dumbledore couldn't have put two and two together as a result. Also, Myrtle's death was June 1943, not 1942 if memory serves me right. Other than that, absolutely no complaints for a chilling and quite horrific fic.

A Light in the Gap by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: When Harry woke that first morning in Grimmauld Place, he wondered if Ron and Hermione had fallen asleep holding hands. This fic provides a possible answer to that question. A missing moment from Deathly Hallows.

This story received a QSQ in 2014 for Best Canon Romance ~ Thank you!

I'll admit I'm a sucker for a fantastically written Ron/Hermione story, and this one is excellent. Subtlety is everything: the creaking of the house, the satisfaction Ron gets from making her laugh, the cracking a joke at Kreacher's expense, the underlying protectiveness that's been there for ages, and Hermione finally dropping her front only once Harry's asleep. Great story, and something that slips into JKR's work flawlessly.
