If you're looking me up, you probably like my stories, so thanks! Hope you've left a review; I'm always glad to get one.
Three stories--Harry 5.5, Harry 5.9, and Black's World--form my Saving Sirius trilogy. Black's World was awarded an Order of Merlin, First Class for Best AU at Fiction Alley. Enjoy!
You're doing a brilliant job of building the mood and the characters. Don't listen to impatient reviewers eager for the happy ending. This is excellent stuff that needs to be sipped and savored rather than gulped. Great chapter.
Hmm...Looks like Kingsley's been hit with the same thing as Krum. I kept waiting for him to go off during the meeting. Your Bull was wonderful--reminds me of bosses I've had--and Dumbledore showing up at just the right moment was definitely in character. I continue to like adult Harry and Ron, who have changed enough to be believable but not unrecognizable. Great to see Crookshanks again but I'm worried for Lupin and Vance.
Author's Response: First off, let me thank you for all those wonderful reviews! I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far. There's going to be a lot more situations before this story reachs it's resolution (and that may or may not be a happy one, I won't say this early!). The one thing I will tell you is that Kingsley and Krum are not suffering from the same problem! Thanks again for the reviews!
So much tragedy in this chapter, yet there's some hope, too. Harry and Ginny are happy, at least. As long as Hermione is around, Ron may have a chance. Your characterizations continue to be excellent, especially the way all the Weasleys are treating the wedding preparations. The suspense about Hermione and Krum is killing: Why did she marry him? Just have to wait for the next chapter...
Author's Response: I'm afraid there is more tragedy to come (I'm afraid people will hate me a bit as the story goes on). Also, it will be a few more chapters before you discover why Hermione married Krum and I think it will be a bit of a shock for everyone! Thanks for the review!
Thought I'd never get here with the login problems! Anyway, you're keeping up the suspense and mystery very well. I didn't expect Emmeline to die, as I thought she was the leak. Someone else, then...hmm... have to work on that one. I'm worried about Lupin and Hermione, too. Somehow, I don't think the wedding is going to be uneventful. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: I know, the log in problems are driving me nuts too (Thanks for persisting though!). I knew everyone was suspicious about Emmeline all along and I got a kick out of that 'cos I knew what was coming! You're right about the wedding! Thanks for the review!
Clever idea to make Petunia a witch enrolled in Hogwarts. Jealousy over James would explain a lot about Petunia's feelings toward Harry. Good job!
I'm glad that you explained Snape's memory as more than a simple, unprovoked attack by James and Sirius. That interpretation never made sense to me; there had to be more going on. Poor Petunia! It's so hard for her to compete with Lily. Will she ever get up the nerve to approach James?
Thanks, I needed this (after writing a post-war Hogwarts scenario). *slaps side of face* You put the whole Evil Wizard business in perspective. Nice job.
Author's Response: I'm here to help!
Just wanted to add my thanks and encouragement to the chorus of other voices. You're doing a great job; please continue.
Of course! Harry would be Ginny's teacher. (I must be a little slow on the uptake as the title of this story is Teacher's Pet!) I wonder who's going to be learning the most? Their day was lovely, particularly the visit to Gap and Victoria's Secret. Why is it that men are always shocked when a woman shops there? Anyway, another great chapter. I particularly liked this line: "You mean like ‘The Famous Harry Potter, Order of Merlin, defeater of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, doesn’t have the balls to ask you himself?’” Must read on.
It's great to see that things are looking up for Harry and Ron. Oh, those "devious" boys! They're so accomplished yet so Emotionally Challenged.
I'm not sure Draco would choose an awards ceremony--with all those powerful wizards and witches around-- as an opportunity to attack Ginny. Draco has never struck me as the brave type; sneaky, yes, but brave, no. Still, I liked Harry's behavior throughout the evening, especially his speech, which seemed so perfectly in character.
I enjoyed this chapter a lot. Snape would be the one to know how to handle a fan club! Nice to see Oliver Wood back, too. The Quidditch tournament sounds like a fun idea, particularly when players will be drawn from all the Houses.
Favorite chappie so far. I felt for Harry standing there, ogling Ginny in her lingerie, but pretending to be unaffected. Hard to believe that he and Ron are so dense, though. Those guys have got to have an epiphany soon.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for all of the reivews! I hope you continue to enjoy it!
Hooray! Another good story to read. Not quite sure why the romances haven't escalated from your other story unless they're not sequential. Still, everyone's heart are in the right places so there's bound to be a lot more tender moments.
Author's Response: I guess you figured it out...its not a sequel! Thanks for reviewing!
Ouch! Hard for me to accept Harry/Hermione, but you've done it well. I think the boys are being rather civilized about their rivalry, which is interesting. Still, Harry did set up Ron for a prank (a little subliminal anger there?). Where's Ginny's head at anyway? Only way to find out is to read on!
Lots of interesting thoughts in this chapter--the cards, the multiple voices, Harry's two-way communication with Voldemort, and Hermione's indecision about the males in her life. You're balancing plot and character development (I particularly liked Hermione's interchange with her parents) very well.
Author's Response: Hey a new reviewer, glad you like the story and I hope you continue to like it. Please keep reviewing.
“One galleon and one day off a week, and that is my final offer sir.” The elf crossed his arms and glared at Harry. Harry suppressed a smile.—Lovely exchange. It’s fun to see Dobby again and it’s nice that Harry more or less formalized his relationship with the Weazleys. Complicated relationships in this chapter—What’s Ginny up to anyway?
Author's Response: I like Dobby, and I think there is plenty that JKR can do with him.
Ginny is up to lots of things. You will have to read all the way to chapter 20 to figure out what she is up to at the end of chapter 3.
At first I thought you were portraying Harry as too much the improbable nice guy—come on, this is post-CAPS LOCK HARRY—but it is true that he generally needs a shove from his friends to take full charge of his feelings. I like what you’ve done with Dobby (“Sir may set the table,”) and with Ginny. I haven’t read too many fics that delved into her traumatic experience with Riddle quite so well. Yes, she would say Tom, as Dumbledore does, to minimize Voldemort’s puffery. Good chapter.
Author's Response: Harry is a nice guy. I was tired of all the woe is me fics that Have Harry totaly lost without Sirius. So, I had him adjust to it fairlys quickly. Really I did it to quickley. I was in to much of a hurry when I started writing and missed some things. A function of inexperience.
I think, and hope, JKR is going to give us some insight into Ginny in the next two books. If she pairs her with Harry, I think we will get to see more of how her experience with Riddle's diary affected her. It is what bonds her and Harry, and will be some of what 'breaks' the trio and makes it two pairs
I’m glad that Ron is getting into the spotlight a bit. Seems like the Weasleys are turning out to be quite powerful. Bringing back Remus was a nice touch, but I don’t think Tonks or Viktor would give up their careers to become assistants. Can’t wait to find out what role Bridgette will play.
Author's Response: Yep, I'm tired of the focus on Harry, so we are going to see more of the other characters.
Tonks was risking her career by being in the Order when Fudge has made it quite clear what he thinks of Dumbledore. Her loyalties are to Dumbledore and the defeat of Voldemort. She would easily teach if that was where Dumbledore needed her the most.
Victor giving up quidditch. He tells you why. He was tired of being hurt. Sometimes there are heros in real life. Look at Pat Tilman. The pro football player who quit football and joined the army because he felt it was his duty as an American to help in the Iraq war.
Wow! You accomplished a lot in this first chapter: Harry leaves The Burrow, discovers he’s inherited Sirius’ wealth, and has an unexpected cuddle with Ginny. Arthur landing on Vernon was great fun, and I enjoyed the image of so many wizards at Privet Drive (heh, heh—drive those Dursleys crazy, wouldn’t it?). Ginny’s showing a nice take-charge attitude that seems very much in character after OOTP. You’re off to a great start.
