Well, I'd say you've made him snarky enough, all right. A regular Scrooge, in fact. I love the way he managed to give the boys a punishment in front of Molly. I really don't think he'd get away with using that potion on Granger, or that he would try - I may be naive, but I think that would be beneath him.
Besides, she'd only resort to throwing her hand higher in the air and scribbling her answers on notepaper...surely he must know that...

glad you enjoyed Snape's sarky wit! And also the twins' punishment - that seems to be going down quite well with readers, so I'll need to thank my muse for that!
I see your point about him not using the potion on Hermione - but I don't necessarily agree with it. After all, he spent years picking on Harry, not to mention his consistent, outrageous and completely inexplicable bullying of Neville. If he can act with such unfounded hostility against a child, I really don't think using a (relatively harmless) potion on a student who irritates him is beneath him.
However, take heart - I don't believe he would have concocted the potion just to use it on poor Hermione. Testing its effectiveness on her would merely have been an added bonus... *chuckle*

Author's Response: I'm so sorry! I didn't realise people were confused about my character...
Well, first of all she's a girl (I know I didn't make that apparent, but that's because I'm planning another one with this character which reveals her more feminine side). Second,she's not a character in the books; I searched all through the books and internet and I couldn't find who were the other prefects with Percy in Harry's second year, so I made one up! And third, she's not really an individual as such, but she's more like the personification of the average disadvantaged person; being a Slytherin, she's been judged as unapproachable and, well, bitchy, by others without them even interacting with her, but her true self still prevails because she chose to rise above all those preconceptions and be who she really is. Which is exactly why she cares for Neville so much; she can see his potential to be great, even if he doesn't.

NEveille's grandmother does seem a bit out of character, but perhaps having Neville demonstrate what a terrific and brave wizard he is took some of the need to be stern off her? Anyway, so far an interesting view of a character not seen as much as we might have liked. I LOVE that she has named her vulture...they are pretty big birds, too, I 'd imagine the hat would wiggle...
I am not so sure about George. The fight with Percy, yes. Being as self-aware as you have him? In my experience, men will do almost anything to stay out of the company of their own emotions. Seems a little too self-analytical, but then, pranksters can have hidden depths...

Hmm. Augusta a bit out of character? Not really. After all, we know her mainly from Nev's pov, and other than that, she only has a couple of (rather brief) lines. JKR did say that underneath her overbearing manner, she has a heart of gold, so I like to portray that side of her, too. You are quite right about Nev's influence: now that the Second Wizarding War (with Voldemort anyway) is over, I like to think that she may be letting her hair down a bit and be more apt to show her softer side, because she is secure in his achievements and needn't fear the loss of him to Death Eaters as she did her son and daughter-in-law.
And I'm delighted that you liked Augusta naming her hat so much! It does seem so very like her, somehow (eccentric, but endearing)!!
As for George, well, I have to disagree with you there :( How could he help but be aware, with the amount of grief and pain that's consuming him? It's the only force that drives him at the moment. Fred is gone and he is struggling not only with that loss, but with his own identity. He's trying to relate to the world as simply George, when it used to be Fred and George. How can any of us know how we would cope in a situation like that? Grief isn't textbook, it's individual. We don't all react the same. This story is just (like all fanfic) one theory, amidst many, of how he may have coped. But the story isn't over yet, so I hope it can convince you that his reactions may not be so very ooc :)

YEA! *Throws confetti!* I had a very distinct picture in my head of Luna before her mother's death, as well as a mother for Luna that was much more down to earth that one might imagine (hence the name Judy). Emma (my beta) very gently pointed out that my one-shot did not afford room to explore this for this challenge, so I will probably write something centered around her mother in the future. But the idea was that her mother's death had an effect not only on Luna but on her father as well...my original also had him toned down some.
I'm not sure if you thought I accomplished this here in this piece or if she was simply a little OOC, but if it made you wonder of the effect her mother's death had on her...mission accomplished. :)

Yeah, that's Snape. A bit jealous and possessive. He'd definitely have hated James later on, even if he knew he had had his part to play in their break-up.

Sorry, I've tried to write you more than this, but Carole really said it all.
I fully support this ship because I am positive Sirius was hot for James, but, being a hormone driven teenager, would have settled for Peter in the meantime.
Now, twistie twistie if you are willing to go AU - what if this love blossoms, has an ennobling affect on Peter, and keeps him out of Voldemort's clutches....
Or what if Peter succumbed because, originally, he somehow thought he was protecting Sirius?
